  • Very slow blinking turn signals

Have noticed lately that my turn signals blink very slowly at slower speeds. If I hit the brakes, they stop blinking altogether.

My battery is fully charged so it must be something else.

Anyone have any ideas on how to correct or what might be causing this.

    Thanks

You've got some work to do cleaning corroded electrical connectors from one end of the bike to the other. Here's a link to an article I put together a while back on dealing with electrical gremlins

      Your blinker fluid is low..........

Ok, that was bad. But you have to admit, YOU were thinking it!

Ken is right, you have a bad connection somewhere.

          Turn Signals

Check your charging system first, at idle the lights pull from the battery only, the headlight will dim slightly and blinkers may be slow. At 1500 rpm the bike should start to charge noticeably, the headlight brightens and blinkers speed up. If the above scenario is you, then this is normal. If blinkers are slow above 1500 rpm or all the time i'd suggest cleaning all your wiring connectors, check bulb sockets for rust and replace old worn bulbs. Also the flashers on these bikes are old and tend to die quite abruptly. They are easily replaced by an electronic 2 prong flasher available for around $10 at any auto parts store. There are three wires on the old flasher, you will need only two. attach the new flasher to the old plug the shape will allow you to plug it into 2 wires only, plug into one side if it works leave it, if not plug into the other side. You will lose the blinker auto cancel feature, but your blinkers will work much better. Or you can order a replacement for about $75, from your local M/C shop and wire it in. Think simple first.

I changed my blinker fluid with model 3 replacement fluid but it didn't work. I think I'll try a new battery and upgrade to model 4. Thanks for the tip
