  • Posting for xs11jack

I know this has been posted before but xs11jack wanted to make sure the newbies saw it and took heed of its warning.

The pics are a bit graphic so please consider this before proceeding if you have a sensitive stomach.

There is a link to the Snopes article with a bit more information at the bottom of this post.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The cops were traveling down the highway at around 1:00AM in the morning near Tulsa, Oklahoma. They found this on the road.

Another patrol car stopped a truck some miles down the highway and were struck with the following image.

    http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...XS11Jack/1.jpg

The Truck Driver said he thought he felt the impact, but it took him almost 4 miles down the road before he thought he'd better pull over and check out his rig.

    http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...XS11Jack/6.jpg

Notice the driver has no shoes on from the impact or from being drug all that distance. Ouch!

Witnesses and State Police say the Motorcyclist was traveling at 120 mph when he ran into the back of the moving semi-truck.

    Careful what message you send

It pains me so to see how young riders full of testosterone and that "I am invicible" drug we all had once go out and pull these stupid kind of stunts. Or the wheelies on the highway at 70 mph in traffic.

We see post on here about how some members are driving 85 mph in the 25mph curves, or how they ride over 100 mph all the time. The new rider might see this and think this is the norm for some reason or a requirement to fit into the motorcycle rider culture.

Reality is that I bet 90% of the members here very very rarely take their bikes over 80 mph let alone over 100 mph. And when they do, make sure it is a loonnngg flat straight section of road with no one else on it, not carving their way through traffic or "hardleys". I also believe most of the members typically do not go racing through curves straining the limits of the machine and the rubber on a consistant basis.

IMHO, riding a motorcycle is fun and enjoyable at nothing more than speed limit and taking curves just fast enough to get the effect of leaning and not steering (ok, it does suck running behind a farkled out harley that can't take curves at the posted speed. inside joke for a few members).

Yes, I know, I just wrecked so I am a little more safety concerned. But I would hate to read of how some 20 yo new member learnign how to ride decided to go out and see how their 30 yo bike can corner like a mongoose like the other XS11 "real" riders do it, after all he is going to become a REAL biker. Or how well the bike runs up to 130+ speeds and burns up the pavement, Then they find out how it does not quite do what they thought it should the hard way. And if their lucky, we do not get to post a new thread in the memorium forum. And no, I am not insinuating that those members whose names are in that forum did anything like this.

    Just some food for thought.

Very sad indeed. I ride with some young riders on sport bikes, and i can tell you that they seem to have no fear of the impending harm to their bodies. I can just hope that i don't have to pick up the pieces of one of our riders. Especially my son.

About three years ago my wife and I were returning from San Diego early in the AM. We were right in the middle of the VERY lit up section of I-5 around Disneyland when six or seven (didn't have the time to count them) riders went by us at an insane speed. Waaay over a hundred. Two of them passed us in the next lane and the force of the air they were pushing really jerked the car. They were out of sight before we even had time to think about it.

Every time I see a kid on a bike tearing up the road I wonder how many of those riders that passed us that night are still above ground...

        Very sad

I was an emergeecy worker throughout
the 90's, i went to an accident where a harley
with two up were doing well over a 100mp/h down the
freeway, when they collided up the back of a car doing the speed
limit, both the rider and passenger were thrown well over a 100m
into brush on the side of the road, both survived but spent
many many months in hospital recovering, the rider was also affected
by alcohol, speed and alcohol just doesnt mix.

I have to ask, how do you not see a semi trailer ahead of you?

Brian, the official police report states it was about 1 mile, Even so, I thought similar to you, but my best guess is the shoes were there for some of it.

He Probably saw it but was riding way too fast for roads, that are not designed for traffic at that speed.
In the post it says,it is believed the rider was doing 120.

Sorry to say but thats what happens when you try to put 50lbs on a 25lb bag.
To each his own but; if I wanted do 100 or more I'd go to a race track not on a road so that when I come around a bend I can go in to the back of a semi and get dragged for a mile.
                  Just my opinion.

It's been around the world that many times, and on that many sites, that many people are asking questions as to the accuracy of the report. There's a significant following that believe it's a hoax and has become little more than a curiosity.

I know when I first saw it (it was emailled to me) I questioned why the guy still had feet after being dragged (1 report says 4 miles, another says 1 mile) and that question still remains unanswered. I believe it's an entirely possible scenario but something about that particular story just doesnt sit well with me, but them maybe I anaylise things too much.

One things for sure, I wouldnt like it to be me

                          Sorry to say,

This was true. The truck driver did not wait to pull over and the young man's friend was killed in a similar fashon a week later. There are a couple more graphic pics of the wreck I have seen but would not be good to post here. This was 3 years ago near Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. I can understand your questions but most of the answers lie in the facts being jumbled over time.
