Hello, I'm new the the website. Just purchased my 1980 XS1100 SG a few weeks ago and I love it. Bought it out in NJ from the original owner, 13,000 miles. My first bike was a 1981 Yamaha xs650 Special II, which I still have. The bulletproof engine, and reliability of the 650 encouraged me to stick with the old Yamahas, but I needed more power, and touring capabilities. From all the research I did, everything pointed to the XS11's. I shopped around for a bit, but didn't find one with a fairing, until I came across this one. After riding it, my expectations were exceeded. Lots of power, heavy enough for the hiways, and still in good shape. I cleaned her up a little, and can't wait to do some touring. I live outside of Reading,PA and her first road trip will be up to the PA grand canyon at the end of the month, can't wait. I've already gathered some valuable info from the site and Thank everyone for that. And if I ever see a fellow XS11 in need of assitance I'll be on it.

Welcome aboard. Please don't wait for it to be an XS11 owner in need before you stop. Even Hardley owners need assistance. Just a personal riders code of ethics, but if it is a bike in trouble, i stop.

Welcome to the site! As far as a tank, you CAN put the STANDARD tank on the SPECIAL, just need to trim a bit on the front of the seat! The extra gallon of fuel is real handy on long rides, as out west you can have over 100 miles between towns, AND GAS!!
