  • Down but now out!

Yep.... I finally layed her over....

Doing about 30 (MPH- not Kmh) when I swerved to miss a giant monster of a Neutra Rat and took a curb head on. Flew over the top and did a beautiful flip into a metal fence post (I messed that thing up though). Rode the bike home and took some meds since I only had scratches. Then I went to a fishing tournament this weekend and I started hurting. I lifted my shirt and i didnt like what I had seen. Went to the doctor a week and a half after the accident (sunday) after my tournament ofcourse, since it looked like I had a alien growing in my abdomen. Turns out that fence post I bent with my body made me have a fist size Hematoma on my belly and thats about it. As for the bike, new forks and handlebars along with headlight ears. Anyone got any??

See yall later and Ride safe.
DONT FORGET THAT HELMET. darn thing saved my life.

Good advice; I've learned to try to make this a judgement call...

Will I crash/get hurt/damage the vehicle if I hit the critter?

YES: Brake/swerve in full avoidance mode and hope for the best...

NO: A clear case of critter suicide...

Glad it was no worse than it was...

I'm thinking that kirmit is referring to a Nutria... These are like rats on steroids... pretty good size (average about 15 pounds)
He might have been better off not hitting it afterall...

and +1 on the new helmet

              Kermit

WHAAAAAAT did you disconnect the airbag? Glad you're alright.
I am shy on frontend parts but may have the ears. I'll check.

BTW - anything smaller than a deer is roadkill.

One more thing- hurts a lot less if you stay BEHIND the bike!

Up here , the insurance companies are getting really sticky on the 'I crashed to avoid hitting (put wildlife here) stories.

We basically HAVE to hit the wildlife just to prove it was there...

Glad it was just minor, gotta love those bruises, too.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

Yeah, same here, but I recently rented a camper van on hoilday in Australia and the insurance was voided if we hit any Kangaroos or Wombats. Kangaroos are suicidal and will just bounce outta the bush right in front of you, especially at night, so just how you're meant to avoid them I'm buggered if I know, but the Wombats will just sit on the warm road and stay there. You can see them for miles and if you run over one in a car you're liable to loose your exhaust. They're like a 50kg rock in the middle of the road. Hitting one on a bike would be a disaster.

Dang, Austin! I'm really glad your still here to tell the tale!
Sorry to hear that happened to ya.

Sounds like 'back to the drawing board' time???
Figures... you just got it all together & running good, too!
                          Happens every time, it seems.

I guess the prognoses on the hematoma is good? Everything's gonna be ok? No other internal injuries were found? If not... you're very lucky, sounds to me! Sounds like that fence post almost went through ya!

Try to take it easy, and I hope ya heal swiftly.

Next time, duck your helmeted head... it's harder.... than the mid section, that is...

                          Regards,

Dang... I must be getting old. I hit dirt on the ground and crack 17 ribs, break my clavical, bruise a lung, and have a black and blue bruise from my azz to my shoulder with a hematoma on my hip that is still trying to subside almost three months later. You hit a fence post and get a swollen bump on the belly!!! Sheesh.

Seriously, very glad to hear it did not turn out any worse for you!! And yeas, a helmet is a must, your brain is a terrible thing to waste!!!
