Old machinery

A neighbor, now 70, has been collecting old machinery for a number of years. Mostly bucket excavators, old Caterpillar tractors, trucks, tractors, and other "stuff", some of it quite interesting. Although I had been in this house for about 4 years, I had not met this gentleman until late last fall.

A couple weeks ago he gave me permission to walk though his lot and take photos. I have created an album at:

None of the items is for sale, sadly. Some of this stuff is restorable.

Very nice....I've seen worse looking equipment on construction stites. Too bad that it is not getting preserved.

A real pity

Hoarders never realize their addiction is self destructive. Both ways- to themselves and what they hoard. My mom was that way being raised on a farm during the war years when they were taught to collect everything. Her addiction caused her to lose retirement.

My ex had that problem...was a large part of what drove me away.

Jerry, I am totally overwhelmed. While I keep my "Stuff" collecting to a minimum, If I had land, I would go nuts. This gentleman has a machinery admirers dream. I could spend days, maybe weeks looking at all that stuff. By the way I am glad you properly identified it as "stuff" not junk. There is a big difference. just one or two things, the Ford truck with the oval grill is a 1927 or 1938. The FWD trucks were manufactured in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. When I was a boy in the early 50's, in Wi., the county highway dept. had a huge FWD truck with a snowplow on it and a 4 ton concrete block in the bed. I had a fascination with watching it clear the roads. Maybe some people think this a little odd, but then back in rual Wi, it was much more fun than watching the grass freeze. Thanks for the picture tour. I loved it. Get more pictures if you can. Could you get some information about the machinery from the owner? Thanks again.
