They are all great. Hard to choose between them. I'd buy some no matter what the color. How about a Midnight Special on the logo? Wishful thinking.

              It will be Maroon

              OK Everyone,

Looks like the Maroon one wins out. I am going to send the patch to Yamaha and get their approval. Lets keep our fingers crossed. I will post once I hear from them.

Depending if Yamaha limits us in the number of patches I might only be able to sell one per household, sorry.

I will know more about the cost once I get approval from Yamaha and then get a quote from the patch makers. I don't think it will be to much money. Probably no more than $7.00 per patch.

There will be no profit from these patches. Moneys will be for the cost of the patches and shipping only. If I have to round up the extra will be donated to the site.

If there are any concerns with this please let me know via PM.

Thanks all for your patients, praises, and help.

                      Heres a question.
If the 1st XS1100 Special was in 1979, Why are you making a 30 year patch for the 1980?
                      Doesnt make sense.

For the same reason you celebrate your birthday, even though you're not the first human. It's a 30th anniversary patch for the '80 Special... Not the '79 Special. Makes perfect sense... Especially since I've got one too

If you missed your bike's anniversary, don't take it out on Mr Oz

Because nobody was willing to step up and do the work for the 79 model year. An 80 model year owner is willing to do the 80 model. Now, it could be argued that it should be the midnight for 80, but being an 80 standard model I'm just happy that I might have a patch for MY year.

In addition, the 80 special is actually a good bit different than the 79, with the 79 not sharing many of the parts used on the 80. One item is that the 79 special uses basically the same side covers as the 80 standard, but not as the 80 special or the 78 or 79 standard (meaning you can modify either one to fit the other and it will work, and look right).

I have no problem with a patch for each model year, but we will see if Yamaha will approve, if they do, I'll get at least one, maybe two if they will let me.

Ahh, so this is for a specific bike not the years the Special has been around.
The patch looks like its for the Special being around 30 years when its been around for 31.
                            I get it.
Kinda like making a patch for a 86 Mustang cuz thats what ya got.
