  • o.t. carb problem/fix

so i've been unable to resolve my garden tractor's running problem. it runs for awhile, then dies. clean the carb several times. i can spray starting fluid, and it will stay running. i went to pull the carb again today, and noticed no fuel flow out of the gas line. i released a clamp i had farther up line, and the tank gurgled, drawing air into the tank. ta da! the gas cap was plugged, not venting or letting air in to replace the fuel. i could see this happening on a bike also, same principle, right?

Yes, it does happen. The bike just stops running and then, a couple of minutes later, it will fire back up and run for while like nothing ever happened. If the fuel filler cap is opened there will be a hiss as air is drawn into the tank.

Lather, rinse and repeat as necessary until someone cleans the vent!
