Missouri Department of Transportation officials say the number of motorcycle fatalities dropped dramatically in 2009.
The department said Friday that 85 people were killed in motorcycle crashes that year, a 21.5 percent decrease.
Nationally motorcyclist deaths were down 10 percent. Both in Missouri and nationally the number of motorcycle related deaths had increased for eleven years before 2009.
As the weather improves more Missouri motorcyclists are expected to be on the roads.
