The even bigger surprise from UPS is if it is shipped UPS Standard. Then there is no collection at the door for brokerage fees.....Until they send you the bill in the mail 3 weeks later. That will shock you once the part is installed and used etc. Then you are hooped if you don't pay the fees as they will refuse to deliver other stuff, until it is paid in full. UPS to Canada Sucks big time. If I can't have it sent U.S.P.S. then I simply don't buy it. The exception to that is if I am purchasing something that can not be had anywhere else on the planet and I am forced into it.

        Two things

Before I retired, I worked for a pretty big company, General Dynamics, and was posted at our customers site. I shipped valuable stuff to the home office and they sent me valuable stuff. I was instructed to Never use UPS! They would not give me a company shipping account at UPS. FedEx or someone else. I asked why, I got a 15 minute lecture on how bad UPS was.
Second thing, maybe this is rude, but I would like to know the name of the member that told UPS to "scrap the package if Crazcnuk didn't want it." That boarders on fraud, Crazcnuk is being cheated out his hard earned money!

"but I would like to know the name of the member that told UPS to "scrap the package if Crazcnuk didn't want it."

I don't want to go into that, just yet. It may still work itself out.

That boarders on fraud, Crazcnuk is being cheated out his hard earned money!

It's not fraud, but laziness. Basically,I refused the package, because of the unquoted extra charges, and UPS asked if he wanted the part shipped back to him for $35. He didn't want to be bothered so he said if I (reciever) doesn'twant it, he doesn't either. I told him I would pay for ay extra charges if it came to that.

However, I didn't get what I ordered at the agreed price, so I may have to go back to Paypal and get my $$ back. I don't want to do that, if I don't have to.

I paid the extortion fee, when they delivered it a second time. Will be seething about it for weeks.

At least the item is in excellent shape.

before it was just a preference not to use UPS. Now it's a credo, tenet and/or law.

Check this out for thier terms and conditions http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/ser...?WT.svl=Footer All 39 pages of it. Basically it says they can charge WTF the want for pretty much anything bigger than a standard letter.

I have no problem with them charging what they want. What I have an issue with is when they quote you $42, then extort another $47 from the receiver.

they redelivered to the depot and phoned me. I picked it up, paid the extortion after a semi heated discussion with the depot owner.

I do work for them, let's just say thier bill will have a little extra for a while.

                      Hey, Crazcnuk,
I totally hear ya. Feel the same way from past experiences w/ them that didn't go well.

Most recently, I found out their policy here in the states concerning apartment complexes that are not 'gated'... if you're not home, they won't leave it on your door. Now, that's all well and good for the security of your pkg... I get that. Trouble was, they didn't tell the shipper, (a Cable & wire co. in Houston,) nor me the recipient that this was the case.
That wire I had ordered was a special communications data cable I was waiting on that could only be ordered from this outfit in Houston, and I was held up on my electrical job waiting on it to arrive. (It went between the auto transfer switch & a 400 amp 3 phase generator.)
As luck would have it, I was on the job when they came by, so I didn't get it... just a note. I called, they wouldn't return him that day. I asked when it would be here the next day... sometime in a 4 hour window.
So, I stayed home all the next day... took off work. Didn't arrive. I called back, and was told it was a new driver, and he didn't know how to find my address, so he went on down the route and passed me up. I could go to their center after 7 pm... 38 miles away. I asked, don't your drivers have GPS? They said no. I couldn't believe it... no GPS? And they're in the business of finding addresses??? Unbelievable! I asked if they would give the driver my directions, and ask him to come back by, due to the urgency. They said No. I asked if the driver had a cell. They said yes. I asked if I left my cell # would they call him, give him my number, and have him call me back for the directions. They said No. It was at this point I lost it a bit. I demanded to speak w/ a Supervisor, and after he repeated the same series of No to me, I told him either he would have his driver call me immediately, or I would file a series of formal, written complaints, and demand the return of my $26 shipping charges. I would then warn everyone I came in contact w/ from now on about them, and would boycott their business permanently.
A few minutes later, the driver called me, and I had to drive 10 miles to meet him and get my package.
Since then, when I order anything... if I have a choice of shippers... it's NOT UPS.
