What to line my trunk with.

So, my trunk is old, really old. and it has a nice creme colored fiber glass interior..or not so nice. Everything gets little pieces of fiber glass all over whenever I use it. Can I use something like plastidip to spray on a liner inside of it?

My saddlebags are fiberglass too, but they seem to have some sort of black liner sprayed on the inside. Just kinda wondering if I can do the same to my trunk.

Rubberized under coating. Or some of that bed liner if you can find it in a rattle can. The plastidip did not hold up well enough for me but may work better sprayed on a rough surface.

Maybe 'paint' the interior with "finishing" fiberglass resin. Just the resin, no fiberglass.
Finishing resin has wax in it. Regular FG resin remains tacky when exposed to air. The wax coats the surface and allows it to all harden.

I know I've seen that bed-liner spray stuff in a rattle can at AutoZone. You could also go a little fancier and get some indoor/outdoor carpeting, and use spray adhesive to glue it in.

I think I might try the fiberglass finisher first. If that's not enough, move to the spray on liner.

Carpet! If I did that I wouldn't be able to fit my racquetball rackets in there. That's half the reason I have the trunk on That'd be nice and plush though. Make installing the thing a little more difficult....

A good quality oil based paint will give a nice finish on the inside of fibreglas applied with a brush.

There are any number of ways. The already mentioned bed liner and rubberized undercoat. Also I have seen rattle can "trunk paint" that has a base color and speckles of other colors. Another option would be some epoxy garage floor paint which should be very durable.

Personally, I would vote for the blood red 3" shag carpet with some fuzzy dice hanging off the rear view mirror. On your bike of course. Not mine.

FWIW, a white or light-colored interior makes it easier to see inside the bag...

You could spray a grey Gel Coat finish in there. Part of the beauty is you add a "wax" to the mixture that cures the finish and you are done. It will stabilize the glass. Just like the outside coat on a boat. You can spray it through a regular paint gun. Or use one that is a bit worn out, nozzle wise. Talk to someone locally who does fiberglass work. You may be able to get him to set you up with the materials to do the job for a case of beer.You will at least get some first hand information and that never hurts.
