  • Been Absent for a long time

Hi All used to be on here quite a bit but life has a way of filling up all the hours in a day so something has to give. I sold my XS a couple of years age and moved from Connecticut to New Hampshire last year. Still have the 99 Venture and an 04 Concours.

Want brings me back today is something I wish I didn't have to do. A few may know that I sold my XS to a guy I had got to know on the Venturers.org forum. He signed up here as BobE and was somewhat active for awhile rode the XS for a season we meet some people for a Mystic Pizza Meet and Eat.

I took a look for Bob's posts here and saw the one where he talked about his health and having to put the bike up for a year. What he didn't say was that his health problems were a stage 4 liver cancer and it was the multiple rounds of chemo and radiation that kept him off two wheels.

He has put up one hell of a fight but the odds were against him from the get go he is in Hospice now and probably has 3 or 4 months left. I haven't been down to see him yet but talked to another Venturer that saw him over the weekend. He said the Bob is alert and sharp but is very weak. He doesn't really have the energy to even get on the computer much, I guess he reads or has read to him some stuff but hasn't been posting. He knows he doesn't have much time left and wants to spare his wife from having to deal with a bunch of stuff after he's gone.

One of those things is the XS it's an 80G with the full fairing and side bags, he had one of those Ebay Trunks to put on it but I don't know the status of that. He's looking to get $500 for it. So if anybody is looking for ride-able XS that needs some TLC. It would take a load of his mind. I'll do what I can to make things work out. I could probably get it and store it for awhile deliver it within reason in the Northeast. I'd buy it back myself but I just bought a 90 Venture Royale that needs a whole bunch of TLC.

I'll be posting a for sale ad but here is a pic for now.

Sorry for this being so long it's taken me over an an hour to write it, had to make several trips out to the garage it's not a post I ever wanted to have to write.

It is a sad day when this comes I know. I am sure alot of us older folks have seen it before. Does not make it any easier or less frustrating. I am deeply sorry for your having to watch this happen to your friend.

I only wish I lived close enough to buy the bike. Looks like a bargain at that price for sure!! I am certain if you list it on Craigslist or something like that it will be gone on days.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.

Russ Thanks for sharing these things with us...I remember meeting you and Bob at the Mystic Pizza run. It was a great day and we all had alot of fun...the melding of 2 great forums took place that day...XS11.com and ST-Owners.com meet at a combined RTE...I remember Bob as a very friendly guy with a great, positive attitiude. Heres a pic in Mystic Pizza...Bob is giving me his sign of approval of a certain female amongst us...who at the time had us all rather impressed. Bob my thoughts and prayers are out to you and your family. God bless you always...Ben
