  • Painted a V-Star!

I have been doing a little more painting lately, and just finished this 1100 V-Star for a guy. Thought I would post some pics. It was originally marroon metallic with tribal flame decals under the clearcoat. He wanted to change it up a little, so here is what we have now:

Kind of neat to look at, anyway.

Sweet looking bike man, I like the green on green color. Personally I would ditch the silver tribal looking thing on the tank and get some more of those flames. Maybe even have them start out on the tank as a bunsen blue and fade them into the green.

Very nice paint job!! Not my choice of colors as far as the green, but it ain't my bike. I agree the silver just does not blend with the green or seem to get picked up by the chrome, but again, not my bike. If the owner likes it, that works for me.

But I do want to learn how to do those ghosty, firey looking flames like that some day. After I do ALOT of other things on my Honey Do list first.

This is a case of where photographs don't tell the whole story. The silver is actually clearcoated bare metal, and not silver paint. If you see it in person, it works with the chrome pretty well, because of the metal texture. It is a pretty neat effect. Another cool thing that the photos don't show, is the pearl accent in the flames. When you walk around the bike, the fire flames actually look like they move.

I just can't get that to translate to digi film, though

Nice, I like your flames. I've been thinking of a silver ,no paint, tank on the 1200....from a standard. I thought it may just be ugly enough to look cool.

I don't think it would be ugly at all. You can give the tank some texture with scotchbrite pads and a die grinder that will give it some feature. That would look pretty cool!

That paint job reminds me of a guy on another site (screen name, "My World") who had his Raider painted similarly. I love the blue on his, but can't say I would have added the silver designs.

Pretty similar, although I have not seen that before. Tribal flames are kind of a "love 'em or hate 'em" kind of thing, for sure.

                    Great work T99Ford,
I'd like to get a nice paint job on my Kingpin. I think you are only four or five hours away too. Do you take the paint set or the whole bike? Or can you do it either way?

I can do it either way. It is a little easier at the moment just to have the tins, so I think I would prefer that. Although I would need at least some pics of the bike to see how the end product would go together.

Send me a PM with some of the details if you want to do it. It helps if I have:

                      1. Prep (you or me, I will final prep, but most people can do a lot) and condition of the tins.
                      2. Design ideas you have in mind. This includes colors and/ or artwork you want.
                      3. Timeframe

These items give me an idea of how much time it is going to take. Let me know
