i installed an oil gage where the factory oil senser was and when the bike is hot and at idle the gage reads 0 psi now when the light used to be hooked up it never threw the light at idle so is there a bypass or something that cuts oil to the top of the motor at low speeds or is my gage just not senitive enough???

My best guess is the later. I have never had my oil light indicate after the engine started on any of my XSs.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!
