  • This ought to inflame the safety patrol...

    I modified my helmet. GASP!!!!

Actually not much. I was sick of not having any ventilation, even with the vents opened all the way. I used shop air and blew into the vents and nothing came out the inside. So, carefully, I disassembled the helmet to the point I could inspect the passages. Well, the molded in holes in the styrofoam were not over the holes drilled in the shell, so no air could get through. None at all. No wonder I could ride in 30 degree weather at 80mph and my head would still sweat.

So, I took a drill and drilled holes in the foam to match the holes in the shell. Now when I blow through the vent with the air gun, all kinds of air comes through. The amount of foam removed was minimal, so I am sure impact resistance is unaffected. If I get smacked in the fore head that hard, I won't really care anyway, you know?

Hopefully I will be more comfortable riding this year.

FWIW, its a Fulmer AF-D4. I hope AF doesn't mean "Air flow"

Phooey. Regulations only apply to the manufacturer, not the consumer. I even tore the tags off my pillows and mattress

I had to do the same surgery to my Shoei when I bought it. Makes you wonder about their 'engineers'.

Its the dang production folks who can't seem to find a way to lin eup the holes like it was designed to be. Can't get quality minded folks to put nothing together these days.

        OMG!

You guy's are gonna die for sure! You'll probably go straight to the special Hell reserved for jaywalkers and people who put water in their Scotch...(by the way, when you get there look for "Red" Cowan [my grandpa]...he jaywalked in 2000 at age 88 and stepped in front of a Gold Wing from between a couple of parked cars..you'll recognize him by all the exhausted ladies around an old cowboy who danced them into the dirt...say "hi" for me...)..

Hey, hey! Our XS's are perfectly legal, but if the Federales want my unlabeled pillows, they're going to have to pry them from my cold dead fingers

I like Glenmorangie Original 10 year old scotch, but can only afford it once in a blue moon at $67.00 a bottle...

The Macallan used to sell a bottle of their 60 year old scotch for $38,000.00..but..alas..they are all sold out. You can still get a taste of it though..for $3,000 a dram.

"Neat please...I don't want my 0.125 oz watered down"...

(this thread has now been officially hijacked...)
