Yesterday I went to a cowboy shoot. We were standing around talking before the shoot started. One guy pulls in on a Honda Gold Wing pulling a trailer. Where we're parked is like a mowed yard. Short grass, fairly level. Anyway, this guy is going to pull in next to a couple cars, he is barely moving if at all. Don't know if the front tire slipped or he just lost his balance and tipped over. He got his foot caught and the bike fell on it and broke his ankle. Didn't take 5 min. for the ambulance and the cops to show up. The one cop asked him, which leg, the guy says "the crooked one" duh! Ya don't have to be going fast to get hurt. Be careful all.

Happens quick
I spilled mine like that last year. Our first trip on the XS. We went to Estes Park and traveled over to a small lake to walk around. The parking lot was covered in a fine gravel, and we were sitting waiting for a car to back out so I could pull in. My wife asked if she should just hop off and I of course said I had it handled. Just turned to pull in and the front tire slid out. Lucky its got crash bars front and back, just ended up with a cracked windshield and a bruised ego. By the way, an XS1100 does real well up in the mountains.1980 xs1100 G

Enlightenment Please
At the risk of severe ridicule, what is a cowboy shoot?
I've heard that they shoot horses when they break a leg. I'm hoping they didn't shoot that poor cowboy biker.

A cowboy shoot is where you dress the part (1880"s) and use guns that function like what they had back then: two single action pistols, a lever action rifle (pistol caliber) and a double barrel, lever or pump action shotgun with an exposed hammer. No semi auto's. It's an "action" type shoot. You shoot five stages, each has a certain scenario. The one with the lowest time (electronic timer) wins. No prizes just fun competition.

For what it's worth, they have my type of cowboy shoots, Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) in every state in this country and them some. Even in Texas! If you weren't so fer away I'd come down and shoot with ya. So, what do you do at a real cowboy shoot? Ride around on horses waving your hat and yelling YEEEE HAAAA! Just kidding. Couldn't resist. Seriously, what does a real cowboy shoot consist of?79 F full cruiser, stainless brake lines, spade fuses, Accel coils, modded air box w/larger velocity stacks, 750 FD.
