Thought this was pretty cool. Don't get to see too many of these anymore.

I just have a problem with a loud soundtrack dubbed over the sound of those engines.

Would be nice to get there sometime experience this.

Nothing sounds prettier than those big radials and big "V" engines.

    Enjoy.

    Propellers are still cool

Man if you don't think that's cool, there's something wrong with ya.
The WW2 era bomber might be the Lancaster that is based in my hometown.
It has 4 Rolls Royce Merlin engines (12 clys each) It flys over regularly and I still get goose bumps everytime I hear it.
Just imagine the sound when the air was blackened with thousands of them during the war.

I have always been an enthusiast of WW2 era planes....Mustangs,Spitfires,Hurricanes,Warhawks,T hunderbolts,Corsairs just to name a few...Bombers like the Lancaster and the Flying Fortress B-17 and the B-29 also rank up there...A few years ago in Nj right behind my house is a private airfield...and they had an airshow ...I'm out there mowing my backyard when the B-17 flies overhead and makes a landing ...wow those 4 engines with props glistening in the sun and it mades its approach. I went and checked it out at the show.Great old warbird. 2 days later ona beautiful sunday a.m. the bomber fires up one engine at a time...until all 4 are roaring and warming up....several mins. later the plane begins to taxi around to the runway...this is a big plane on a private airport...length is 2 miles...so the old warbird will nedd most of it....I positioned myself about 3/4s of the way down the runway to witness the takeoff...First using binoculars then as it came towards me it became quite amazing to see. The early morning sun hit those props and again they were just glistening...the power of those 4 engines going full throttle as it roared past me and became airborne...was an amazing sight...All this right in my backyard! I forgot to mention they had many otherWW1 and WW2 aircradt theree... A Japanese Zero and German planes too FW190 ME109 Junkers...etc..lots of fascinating stuff..

Thanks for the awesome vid! We're having an open house here on base in september, I know the Thunderbirds will be here, not sure exactly what else, but I'm definitely psyched.

At the Watsonville antique Fly In and Air show, we don't get the "big" jet aircraft. Well, the new C17 CAN land, back-up, and then take off in about 2,000 feet! There ARE almost all of the WW2 aircraft that still fly showing up! The Zero that is flying is based in Half Moon Bay, and WILL be at the dream machine show this month.
Anyone on the West Coast can se the old aircraft Labor weekend this year. The HAM radio operators will NOT be helping for the first time this year, so we will see how it goes.
And yes, I LOVE the sound of a Merlin V12 in the morning!!!

            Hi late,
oh, that was a wonderful clip, thanks for posting.
FWIW, I reckon the F86 is the most beautiful aircraft ever built. If an Angel were to manifest itself as an aircraft it would look like that.
BTW, I was surprised to see a DeHavilland Comet Racer. Was G-ACSS a real one or a replica?

You know Randy, that might be fun, if it is a short enough flight.

I flew in the cargo strap seats of a C130 from Anchorage Alaska to Dayton Ohio once. I hope to never have to do that again as long as I shall live!!!

You are shoulder to shoulder and knee to knee with your fellow passengers. The only way to go the RR is to walk along the rails behind the heads of your fellow passengers and then back. It was ....ummm...interesting. Now to make it even better, we started out on one of the Allutian Islands and flew to Anchorage, as the plane landed in Anchorage, a big flash came from the cockpit area, and one of the engines died just as we are about to touch down. Did we change planes....noooooo.....a five hour layover as we waited for them to repair the plane. So we then took the SAME plane back to Dayton.

So now when I get stuck in Atlanta for an hour or two, it does not bug me at all!!
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!
