    Bone head award

    Well I don't know if I should win the "Bone Head" award for this ( I'm not asking). While checking float heights on my 80 carbs I rolled the carbs over to put the bowls back on and somehow I managed to bend the float on carb #4 enough as to completely shut off the fuel supply. But wait that's not the best part, I disassembled #4 carb cleaned and reassembled everything then I realized I had set the carbs down a bit too hard on the idle screw and bent the tip . I managed to straighten it but I think I will replace it just to be sure.

    So can anyone make me feel better and tell me I am not the only recipient for the "Bone Head " award.

    Sorry, not even close. I recently sold my 86 Bronco II, so I wouldn't have to change the bad transmission only to find out later, that it wasn't a bad $600.00 transmission, it was a bad $50.00 throwout bearing. Oh well I'm getting even with him this weekend, I'm going to give him a good deal on a boat.

        many years ago I was cleaning a paint spray gun, looked down the nozzle and shot my eye full of acetone.

          All I'm going to say is make sure your vehicle has gas in it before you start troubleshooting and checking everything else that may or may not keep it from running.


          (took about 4 weeks and my dad's help to figure it out, and no the gas gauge doesn't work)

            How about some AH Idiot that tought he would rethread the stud welded to the frame to hold the shock on by using the wrong thread bolt and big F'n wrench. He found out that that threaded area of the stud ain't as strong as the wrench he had. So now that and paint on a gas tank are the only thing stopping him form selling a bike in the sweet spot of the selling season!!

              "Misery loves company" huh? Ok, here ya go....

              When I rebuilt my SG, I had an issue with the headlight so I went through everything electrical under the fuel tank, not having a clue what I was doing. I just hoped I would find something that came loose.

              After checking everything and anything, I put everything back together and whatever I did, the light has been problem free since.....BUT...

              I went to start the bike and got nothing. "What the ....???"

              I dug around under that tank for the next two days trying to figure out what the heck I did wrong. As it turned out, one of the things I opened and checked was that small box mounted on the frame that houses a half loop with a washer floating along on it, the cutoff device if the bike tips over.

              Idiotstick here put it all back together but mounted it upside down. DUH!!!!

              Feel a little bit better now?
