  • Dream machines!!

I just heard the add on the radio, it's time once again for the annual "DREAM MACHINES" at the Half Moon Bay airport. This is a ONE DAY ONLY event, and you can find ANYTHING that has a power plant here! I'm talking model steam engines to jet helicopters, and EVERYTHING in between. Ed and I have been twice, and I'd like to have two or three XS1100's this year. It's about $20 to get in, and $30 will get us a place to show off the bikes! We would need to be there about 8:00am, and stay until 4:00pm, so it would be ALL DAY.
Let me know, and you can find the web site here:http://www.miramarevents.com/dreammachines/

That sounds like fun, Ray. I'll pencil it in and see if I can make it.

This is really a hoot: a gear heads wet dream! Not your typical “Trailer Queen” show bike / show car event! This is an antique fly- in, steam- show, diamond- in- the- rough, show what you road show. Ever seen a power unicycle drag race? They got it! I would be happy to put up any riders who might want to show up a day early for this. Any riders within a couple of hundred miles should seriously consider this event. It would be great to have a half dozen XS/XJ 11’s to show. And Scott, you are always welcome.

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
        I've been riding since 1959.

I may try to make it. SWMBO and my daughter might follow along in the cage, but if my tailbone bruise is up to it by then I hope to be there. That will be the first test of whether or not I will be up to the cali rally this year.

Bummer Kirmit77, I'd dig meeting you!
Cywelchjr: let me know if you need a place to crash the night before. To display we need to be there by 8:00 A.M. That means leaving Santa Cruz no later than 7:00 A.M.
I'll try to have a "fact sheet" printed up for XS11's in general, and mine in particular. If your ride is modified you might want to print one up for your bike, but this is optional. Just come and enjoy!
                I hope you make it!

                    Just the Facts

Ed, what's a fact sheet look like? It'd be nice if we could get them coordinated or at least use the same box of Crayons.

I'm checking inexpensive reservations in Salinas. Some are already booked up; might be able to nab a room at the Beach View Inn on Front Street in Santa Cruz. That'd save the ride up from Salinas to meet for the early morning ride north to Half Moon Bay in the usual Pacific Coast morning weather and tourist traffic so I might do that.

The Beach View Inn is booked up so I grabbed a room at the Best Western on Plymouth St in Santa Cruz. It's a little more spendy but not too bad.

Ed, I hope you enjoyed the Tony and Cherie Blair story!

I didn't want to invite people over to your house for you so I got a room because I'm trying to get some more people to ride up there without having to sleep under a bridge and get up at -o'clock in the morning to be at Half Moon Bay in time for the exhibition.

The rooms for that weekend are already getting booked up so if no one else rides along I'll put my reservation up on eBay!

I can't make it to the Dream Machines expo this year.

I just got an insurance notice and I can pony up or go have fun and the DMV will suspend my bike registration for me while I'm out on the road somewhere.
