  • A word to the oblivious (like me) about socket acquisition

In case you're looking for a large socket that doesn't come in the standard socket sets, and you don't want to buy a $50 oversize set, Autozone has individual sockets for around $8 or less depending on size.

I know most of us probably know this, but like I said, "a word to the oblivious"

Without starting the age old debate back up on tool quality, you can also get individual sockets at Sears.

Yes, or probably home depot etc. The nice thing about Autozones is you don't have to drive across town to get to your nearest one.

If you're ever over there, on 59th st. a bit west of Western, there's a place on the south side of the road called Meridian Tool. (Seems like it would be off Meridian, huh?? lol) They have bins and bins of single sockets, wrenches, etc for cheap. A bit like Harbor Freight.. but even cheaper if you can believe it.

          Here is what I do!

I ride my bike to a Flea Market, and look for old beat up Craftsman tools for a few bucks each. I clean them abit and take them to the Sears store and exchange them for new.
For you ch. 11 riders in the St. Louis area, there is a very nice Flea Market in Wentzville on Sunday mornings.
