  • BIKE DOWN (not rider, thankfully)

so i am stuck in a parking lot, on my phone getting some fantastic help from the guys on this site (check immediate help please, if you are really that curious, on the other side)....when some old lady backs into my bike, knocks it over, then starts to drive off. i ran in front of her car, and made her stop...she looks at me with disgust, and backs up. gets out of her car, looks at the bike laying on it's side, with gas and oil leaking out of it and i swear to god, says "it looks like it's fine". didn't even say she was sorry at first, she honestly seemed mad i made her stop and get out. i pick up the bike, and she asks if anything was wrong. aside from the front fender and broken turn signal, nothing was, but i said "i don't know yet, let me look, there seems to be a lot of oil leaking out and gas, and that can't be good" and she says "well there is a lot of oil all over the ground" as if to say it couldn't have been something she had done....i looked her dead in the eyes and said "THAT'S FROM WHEN YOU BACKED INTO IT!!!!!!" i let her go, and honestly it could have been worse, i am not even mad she hit it...accidents happen, and i could have been on it, which would have been worse, but it mad me sooo mad that she wasn't even going to stop. some people just suck.

i had just finished painting, literally just put the exhaust on and rode it to the store to get a second key cut, and she hits it and it wouldn't start...

best part of the story...i had run the battery down trying to get it started...an AWESOME old dude jumped my bike from his WHEELCHAIR batteries! totally made my day so much better, he was the nicest guy in the world! just amazing.

I would have gotten her insurance info and had a field day fixing my bike if she gave me that kind of attitude. Definitely should have gotten the cops there to make a report and got her insurance info.

Indy can be a goofy place sometimes. It is amazing the different types of folks you meet there.

dgsxer, i would have, actually, if she had done that maybe two weeks from now. as it sits, it might not be registered or insured. maybe... so i really had nothing to do with on that one. i did love the jump from the wheel chair and that is what i am going to focus on, cause the rest just makes me mad..

Jumped it from his wheelchair batteries???? That is the coolest thing I have ever heard! Good on that guy for sure
Healthy is merely the slowest rate at which you can die

Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better. I’ve always believed this, in spite of the trouble it’s caused me. yup. not pink any more. i did sanded the badges so there is just a little pink left on them, but you really don't notice, and i left the screws pink, i wanted to keep just a little because it was soooo weird to find an 1100 bike painted pink!! but it is all done now, minus one rear left turn signal....crazy old lady.

              In a different parking lot...

              1st bike,

              Duuude!!

Welcome to the "Open Road". As in open to every klutz, maniac, and ham-handed legal/non-legal driver:where the usual textbook response to a collision is "I'm only Human.".

Gawd! Really wish it would've been a Victoria's Secret underwear model in the cage that hit your bike. Maybe then the story might have taken a different turn.

"Is that cerise I see where I knocked the paint off?? I just love cerise. Hard to match cause everybody thinks it's fuchsia.", as she looks up and meets your gaze.

              Better luck next time, dude.

Sounds to me like someone has spent a little to much time reading the old letters to Penthouse and Playboy over the years

Down here the cops won't even show up unless there is more than $500 in damages, 911 asked me that a couple times. I just say yes, after all do I look like a collision appraiser?

OK, So was this the reason your bike wouldn't start, or was it messed up before the old bag hit you. I read you thread for help and thought the vacume lines may have popped off. Mine did the same thing one time.

When I was about 8 I used to walk this old ladies dog for her. She asked me to help take him to the vet one day. When we backed out of the parking spot she backed right into the side door of a car parked behind her. No sh*t, she crushed the side of the car bad. We looked back at the car, then at each other and she said " Oh, I didn't do that" and drove off!!! I couldn't believe it. I wonder if they ever caught up with her from the Vet's appointment sheet.

dgsxer, you were missing out. some of the best fiction EVER was in those letters....and they screwed me up, i keep looking, helping neighbors, stop and change tires for ladies on the side of the road, stop by car washes in college towns....nuthin!!! stupid lettters....

and yes it was the vaccum line that had popped off, and it did start after the jump from the dudes wheelchair no problem.

and i can't believe that lady just drove away from the vets....some people just kill me, being a nice person seems to have left the thoughts of the general public.

and unfortunately, i know all of the colors you were talking about, i sell eyeglasses and know all about purples, and rose, and violet, and can tell you the difference...it is a sad state for me, but i am hoping for the day that is comes in handy.....on the side of the road.
