I did 147 miles on 4.2 gallons on Sat and didn't hit reserve. Not sure how much further I could have gone before reserve but usually if I fill up right after switching it's slightly over 4.3 gallons, so I figure I had .1 gallons left before reserve, so I had at least another 37 miles left on that tank.Originally posted by Geezer View Post

I was well past reserve on the mongrel when I hit the 130 mile mark. That bike got crappy mileage but ran so well that I never bothered digging into it very far to find out why...

I usually get 39 mpg and hit reserve at 150-155 and another 54 miles on reserve. Standard tank. 5.3 gal.79 F full cruiser, stainless brake lines, spade fuses, Accel coils, modded air box w/larger velocity stacks, 750 FD.

I usually fill up with 2.6-2.9 gallons (that's when the red light comes on), and get about 32mpg. Eventualy, I'll get the Dynojet kit and hopefully that will bump it up to 40mpg or more.1980 XS850SG - Sold

Last year I got 140 miles on a special. It was about 40 MPG, but the floats were set a bit on the lean side. I was riding it as nice as I could just to find out."The Hooligan" XJ1100, Virago Gauge Pods, Screaming Eagle Mufflers, K&N Filter, hand made rear fender, side covers, and solo seat, round bar conversion, small headlight, tail light, and cat eye turn signals, chip fuses, rewired the right way.

I'm sure Garth appreciates what you all are getting on your special tanks........but that's not what he ask!.......Garth, my factory full dresser Venturer with that tank and all the variables will get me bout 180 before hitting reserve at a constant 70-75mph. Have on a couple occassions, not by choice anyway ran some 220miles and sure it was getting down there as it took some 5.7-5.9gal. Well I figured to say 40 Miles Per Gallon (that's what MPG means) is well enough to help out. I think he can multiply 40 X 6, don't you? You also have to figure small carb adjustments, weather, altitude and other factors can play into fuel mileage, so don't think your fuel mileage is as good as gold for his bike.Originally posted by motoman View Post

Mine gets about 22-25 MPG...@ 105 MPH!

On my 79 motor with the large tank I get 170ish to reserve, and stop after 200 miles. I think 235 was the furthest I've ever gone, but as the miles piled up I became more cautious.
35-37mpg, but I want better.I've been in more than one Hemisphere, and I wrote a book to help you do it too (or just prepare better for that week long road trip). Going Small, not just for the little guys.Comment

Till I run out of gas ! Just being a smart a$$. The most I have run on a tank is about 150miles and I was hoping it would't run out. It made it to the station. I try to fill up at about 120.Comment
