I was well past reserve on the mongrel when I hit the 130 mile mark. That bike got crappy mileage but ran so well that I never bothered digging into it very far to find out why...

I usually fill up with 2.6-2.9 gallons (that's when the red light comes on), and get about 32mpg. Eventualy, I'll get the Dynojet kit and hopefully that will bump it up to 40mpg or more.1980 XS850SG - Sold

Last year I got 140 miles on a special. It was about 40 MPG, but the floats were set a bit on the lean side. I was riding it as nice as I could just to find out."The Hooligan" XJ1100, Virago Gauge Pods, Screaming Eagle Mufflers, K&N Filter, hand made rear fender, side covers, and solo seat, round bar conversion, small headlight, tail light, and cat eye turn signals, chip fuses, rewired the right way.

I'm sure Garth appreciates what you all are getting on your special tanks........but that's not what he ask!.......Garth, my factory full dresser Venturer with that tank and all the variables will get me bout 180 before hitting reserve at a constant 70-75mph. Have on a couple occassions, not by choice anyway ran some 220miles and sure it was getting down there as it took some 5.7-5.9gal. That would be close enough for me considering the alternative!81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

On my 79 motor with the large tank I get 170ish to reserve, and stop after 200 miles. I think 235 was the furthest I've ever gone, but as the miles piled up I became more cautious.
35-37mpg, but I want better.I've been in more than one Hemisphere, and I wrote a book to help you do it too (or just prepare better for that week long road trip). Going Small, not just for the little guys.
