  • If you had a free week...

SWMBO is going to Florida with her family for a week at the end of May. This leaves me with the option of staying home and working... or taking off for a week to ride somewhere. Tough decision, ain't it? lol.

So, if you had a free week to go wherever you wanted to, where would you go? I'm starting from the middle of the U.S. and since I've been all over west of here, I thought I might head east somewhere, I just don't know where yet.

    Blue Ridge Parkway

    Start at the bottom.

    SC/GA/NC highway 28/64

    Dragon's Tail

    That's a start...

On edit: you're 16 hours (1000 miles) from the bottom of the Blue Ridge Parkway...it'll take an iron butt just to get there.

I've heard the Dragon's Tail is so heavily patrolled now, it's not much fun, and not very long. I have a REALLY hard time going the speed limit on twisties..

I'd ride down to the Bahamas. Or at least head to Margaritaville out on the keys. Then I would go find some bayou cajun food around Ponchatrain. After that maybe hit up some of lower appalacia around Kentucky and Tennesee to see some of the whiskey distilleries and tobacco farms. Then maybe head out to the coast, just because.

Probably more than a week involved there, but a guy can dream, can't he?

Looking like maybe the 21st through the 30th.

I thought about going to the Florida Keys again and go for a dive or two, but been there and done that. Tough to ride to the Bahamas.. You gotta get those XS11 pontoons made and patented for me. I do think I'll try to get in on the Whiskey trail in Kentucky and tour those at some point during the trip.

I second the distillery idea! I would have to go see Mr. Jack Daniels fine establishment and also I would try to make it to my other two favorite Whiskey producers. The great state of Kentucky has a lot to offer as well, if that’s something that peaks your interest. Check this link out, it’s from another one of my favorite makers.

Other wise I would like to do some riding on RT 66 and maybe go to myrtle beach and into the moutains...

My son is getting married on the 22nd. If you are planning to hit a couple distilleries I'll roll out after and meet you there.

If I hit a couple of the distilleries, I'm gonna hit 'em all! lol. Yeah, that knob Creek is on the Whiskey Trail.. Might be interesting after the 8th distillery in a row? lol.

I was looking at motorcycle riding in West Virgina, and there is a lot of good curvy roads. I want to ride, but also see some things. Great roads are even better if there's a destination at the end.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

                      Wv

I've toured WV about 5 times. There's plenty to see and do. Coal mine tours, the bridge, Seneca Rock, etc. If it makes it to your short list, pick up a WV travel guide.
