I refuse to wear steel toes while riding, as it makes it almost impossible to get my toes under the shift lever. I needed some tall boots that were waterproof, but that I could still wear all day at the office on casual friday.

I ended up with a pair of Herman Survivor "Commander" boots from Walmart. They were about $40 or so. After I bought them, I have read a lot of negative reviews about quality and durability, but I haven't had any trouble with them so far. If I can locate a military surplus store that carries waterproof boots, I may go that route next time instead.

      Justin cowboy style waterproof workboots

They have a great sole, are comfy as heck and I even wear them all the time to travel and with business attire. They arent "shinyboots" kinda a buff brown finish so I dont ever polish them either. Just slip on and go.

Tour Master Reponse SC Road Boots

Here's a link to the review in Webbikeworld that led to my purchase decision:

        http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcyc...ster-response/

And the fact that I found a brand new (never used), still in the box pair, in my size for $29.
I am very happy with the way the feel and the protection they provide. I did have to install a cushioned inner sole becuase thy had none. Can wear them all day, even at work.

          Timberland Pro Workboots

I wear the Timberland Pro Workboots without the steel toe.

Back in 2004, I had my feet crushed and had severe damage to my left leg, degloving, destroyed tibia, multiple breaks in the fibula, crushed ankle, etc, etc.

When I started riding again (by the way, that was an accident with an aircraft, not motorcycle) I was very concerned with being able to hold up the bike at a traffic light or stop sign.

The Pro boots with the winter insulation is what I wear year round. I decided against the steel toe only because I assumed the steel toe may cause a lot of pain with any restricted space, flexability of the boot.

I also have inserts made specifically for my feet by a doctor to help ease any pain. So far, no problems on rides of a few hours. I can't really ride all day without some serious pain. I've had the same pair for two years now and they're still in good shape.

            Tevas

Yep, the equivalent of flip-flops. But, that's just in the neighborhood on the way to the pool. Oh yeah, no helmet either.

Seriously, my footwear depends on whether or not I'm planning to hike when I get up into the mtns. If so, I wear high top timberland lace up hiking boots. If not, I wear rubber healed (leather soled) mid calf pull-on "cowboy" boots.

Finally a thread with some real sole.

I use Gene Simmons' old boots from back in the day. They go pretty good with my Gwar riding armor. hehe.

Seriously, I have a pair of Ariat riding boots I picked up at Vanderbilt's for $160. Seem to be high quality and were a bear to break in, which in my world, means they will last a while.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES get TourMaster riding boots. they are cheaper quality than the discount isle at K Mart. I bought a set from a going out of business sale for $50 and felt totally ripped off. The price on them new was almost $200 according to most websites. They were total crap.

My feet are size 16 EE. That pretty much means I buy what I can find in my sze. I have two pair of lace up boots, steel toe in brown and hiking in black. I like the protection of the steel toe and have never expiranced any of the problems others have had with them. I can't say what brand they are. The brown ones are union made in USA . Somthing you don't see very often anymore.

I'm not sure, but I think just repositioned it a click or two. I have been thinking about foward controls, but more because of my long legs and how close my king/queen puts me to the tank.

Eek and I thought my size 14 boots were big... Anyway I have a set of El Cheapo hunting boots from Payless shoes. I bought them for hunting when I was broke. It's taken me years to break them in but they seem to do the job and they keep my ankles warm on a cold day...

I'd just wear what ever shoes I had on for riding but I can't seem to stop the oil leak around the alternator wires...

Geezer, wasn't there a "how to break in your leathers thread" that suggested motor oil not to long ago? You should get a nice pair of leather boots to wear riding, then by the time you fix the leak the boots will be nice and soft.

I also wear whatever I happen to have on, as long as its not sandals.
