  • Whats should a nice FJ be priced at?

Found this FJ in Elmira NY area... No funds right now to buy it but have been keeping an eye open for the future. If nothing else, I wouldnt mind finding one that I wouldnt feel bad about making into a custom. Check it, let me know what you think, is this a fair price?

      Wow

I think I like that 84 better than the 92! Anyone know the history of the FJ's, years manufactured, highest hp/fastest production years, and were there any years superior to others technology wise? I think an FJ would make a nice future upgrade some time, of course there will always be a spot in my heart for my XS.

The first time I seen one of these a few years ago, I had to have one so I bought this one recently. I like the looks of the FJ's as well and of course my beloved XS 11's but this one will fit nicely in the stable.

            Hi Wade,
what I reckon is, the older the bike and the more you want to do to it; the more the purchase price becomes like the ante to get into a poker game.
It's insignificant compared to the cost of staying in.
So don't agonize over what the price is compared to what the "Blue Book" sez, do want the thing or not?

I really dont even know what the Blue Book value is for the FJ's, I was more interested in everyones opinion about the possible value of the above bike. Im not that familiar with them other than I understand they are like the "son" to the XS...

                FJ1100s

Have one in shed at moment. More torque, more power(Think 125HP) than XS ever dreamt of. Handle like on rails compared to XS. Some that have had hard time will develop gearbox issues, generally 2nd / 3rd. Test ride and get on /off throttle hard in lower gears to check. Local mechanic tells me that after riding 1100 he was disappointed with 1200 as did not seem to go any harder or do anything else better than 1100. Some down here have been known to do 300,000+ kilometres (186000 miles) with no more than decent maintenance. Either of those in this thread seem to me to be good value.
