New Owners

My financee and I have just become new owners of a 1979 XS 1100 standard. We are in the restoration process, but we only need a couple of parts to finish it.

We can not understand why it is a 79 orignal bike and paint, but a 78 color with the touring package. (Macho Maroon).

He says this is a great site for info and so he wanted me to join.

The serial numbers on the frame and motor tell you what model year it is. It could be a 78 that was bought new in 79 and mislabelled by the State. That was the deal on my "79" xs500 when I went to get the first part and the Yamaha guy said 78 was the last year.
