I ordered 2 tires at a terrific price from Jake Wilson on Monday after 6:00 PM. The tires were delivered today. That is less than a 2 day delivery! I had never done business with them before but I am impressed! They have a very good website with a large range of motorcycle products. Just thought I would pass this on for anyone that does not know about them.

That not to bad at all. How much you pay to get them mounted and balanced?

        Thanks for the info.

I thought the elite II in our sizes had been discontinued, at least thats what I was told by a shop near my old house.

              Lucky you,

I am looking to replace my rear. I been asking around at a few MC shops around here. Very pricey. I can get tires cheaper online, but then they charge more to mount.

              O well.

              Thanks for the info!!

Tubeless tires are a breeze to mount. Rear tire doesn't even need balancing. JMHO

                    Hi Phil,
they might be a breeze to mount but that's only half the story.
They are a right swine to take off after they have been on the wheel for long enough to wear out.
Our local bike shop wants $35 to R & R a tire if you take the wheel in.
I'm happy to pay them because I'm too old to fight with the damn things.
After the 3rd time he'd pinched an inner tube putting new tires on his XS650's wire-wheels my son was happy to pay them too.

They have been replaced with Elite 3 but I was looking for the II because they ran so well. Jake Wilson had some in stock.

                        Rear Tire

I changed the rear tire on the Cruise Missle after I got it home. I don't remember it being that hard in 1980 when I changed the one on my 79 XS1100. Of course I was only 26 at that time, and in much better shape. This time around I chased that wheel and tire around the garage for a good 2 hours, before I finally got it mounted. I don't think I'll be doing that again. I'll just take it off, and take it some place. Much easier on this old body. HAHA.

                          Thanks again

                            I use:

3 big screwdrivers, hammer, valve core removal tool, dish soap, compressor. After the old tire is off, make sure you wire wheel the rim to get the old crap off at the bead mounting surface. After the new tire is mounted, it may be necessary to add up to 70 psi to get the tire fully seated on the rim, YMMV. Check out TC's tech tip for more info...
