Have any of you folks installed an IR repeater system for your audio systems? What brand, any problems.? I'm trying to hide all the components for the home theater system in one cabinet that has solid doors and was looking for advice from real people not those kids at Best Buy and the like

Hey Wingnut,
Niles makes a good IR repeater/blaster system.
Not cheap though. What type of distance are you looking for? You can go with a IR to IR system or you can go with a RF to IR depending on when you are using your remotes and where the components sit.
Don't worry, I don't work for Best Buy. lol But I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express lastnight. (ok bad joke)
But really, I am a audio/video tech. (Work on commercial systems).
Let me know what questions you have and I will find the answers for you.

The thing to remember is IR stands for Infra Red LIGHT. Some of the systems like Randy suggested have an RF, or Radio Frequency component. Light will NOT go through a solid object, radio will.

Thanks for the advice. The system will all be in one cabinet and I only want to access control from one room. I'm thinking of going with this

All the reviews I read are good and there should not be a problem with the IR interference from my LCD. Now if I can just re purpose this buffet cabinet without making it look like a Jr high school shop project. Wood is not my medium of choicewingnut

Well I just purchased the Niles RCA-HT kit. Paid $149 with free shipping. Got all the woodwork done and it came out looking nice. Mounted a 4 inch fan in the cabinet and added some cooling holes so as soon as the kit gets here I'll let you know how it works. From all the reviews I read it should do just fine for my application.wingnut
