Emails from xs11.com virus bs

First off hello everyone. I've been getting emails reguarding viruses on my pc from cliff Edwards saying I'm going to be reported for virus bs. News flash havnt been on this site in over a year run norton Internet security no viruses or spyware or malware on my pc. Here is the email I hope to hear back from a moderator asap.

Don't worry about it. We have been dealing with a rash of spammers lately, and this is one of their new tricks. Just don't click on the link in the message. That user (Cliffinzz) no longer exists, so the admins must have already taken care of this spammer.

Yeah, they slip thru occasionally!

However, We(management) would request that when you post their fake message, to DELETE the LINK that is in the message, so that others seeing these won't click on it. Ken had to EDIT every one of the above posts to keep the rest of US safe!

As has been mentioned, you can report them to a MOD, there's a choice in your PM's to do that, similar to being able to report thread posts to a MOD.

This way we can be notified by email by the SITE, and will find out about them in a timely manner. Just remember that we work also, and so we may not react immediately to the threat, but will as soon as we can!

As we get hit, we identify their IP address/Range...ie Korea, China, Latvia, etc., and can then BAN a whole range, not just one IP to keep them from being able to even access the site!

Hey Rob,

Surprisingly, it's rare and becoming more rarer that the spammers are getting thru. Our real IT guy Wes Sanders is busy working behind the scenes catching at least 1 a day, deleting him, adding his IP to the RANGE and ever growing list of banned IPs that can't even access the site, but there are a lot of IPs for locations all across the globe. And as we've seen, we do get legitimate members from far away places like South Africa, Australia, etc.! so we can't ban the whole world aside from the US, Canada, England, etc.!

The vBulletin folks have made and continue to make upgrades to the security of the programming of the site software, and we're working to get them implemented in a timely fashion. I don't think what you suggested is a function, not to mention feasible cause like you said....possible abuse or just human error could cause threads to get lost in the void of netspace!
