  • What color other than BLACK

Some may not have noticed but I'm partial to black as the basic color of any bike. I am nearing the stage where I have to make up my mind on what color to use on a non-stock XSes color. Some parts are/will be polished.

Engine, fenders, tank, side covers and frame. All one color?
    What do you think?

Currently still leaning towards black but was interested in suggestions.
    Pics would be nice

I like a silver/chrome engine. The only color I would paint the engine would be black, w/ silver hi-lights. Otherwise the engine the same color as the bike is toooo much.
79 F full cruiser, stainless brake lines, spade fuses, Accel coils, modded air box w/larger velocity stacks, 750 FD.
    79 SF parts bike.

Might look cool with a really dark purple or indigo - such that it almost looks black except when the sun hits it right. Painting everything the same color might be a bit much - then again it might look really cool. It's hard to visualize. I wonder if you cold use photoshop or something similar to get an idea of the look before you put paint on metal.
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

I would not paint the engine. I have always loved the XS1100s BIG SHINY ENGINE. It is one of the first things people used to notice right away and still do. If the engine is good and clean, or polished it is a major focal point of the bike.

I think that black with polished fins looks pretty good and stands out as well. Doing any other fins that are visible (like the oil filter cup and valve cover) looks good too.

                      Chartreuse??? Naa
Pink, ain't going to happen in this life
black with polished fins ... I agree, but already have a few

I would not paint the engine ... (too late)
Bike's been down on both sides
Engine should be on the bench in about a week.
Timing and generator covers were in real bad shape, beyond polishing. They are now "repaired" and received several coats of car primer. I sorta planned to use the same paint I'll use on the cylinders on them. No funds for magic metal filler for powder coating.

                      really dark purple or indigo
I think I'll take a look at what the powder coater has available, that might be interesting.
                      An XSive purple hardley eater???

Damned hard to get a camera to do it justice, but mine is a deep purple with some flake in it over a black base. In direct sunlight it looks black, on a cloudy day it looks purple. Not a glaring bright purple, a really deep subdued purple. It looks really good and draws lots of comments, problem is it was done by the PO and its needs a repaint. Cant find the PO and dont have the colour code. Matching time.
