  • Shipping a bike to Ireland

    Ok!
Has any one out there shipped one to Ireland? How much did it cost?
Or has anyone in Ireland had one shipped to them.
    What would be the process.

You need to find an international freight forwarder. My company does that. It will be rather pricey (I have no idea how much), but a good one will take care of crating it for you, and handling all the paperwork on both ends. You just sign a bunch of forms, and they do the rest.
    1980 XS850SG - Sold
    1981 XS1100LH Midnight Special (Sold) - purchased 9/29/08
Fully Vetterized and Dynojet Kit added, Heated Grips, Truck-Lite LED headlight, Accel Coils, Irridium plugs, TKAT Fork Brace, XS850LH Final Drive & Black SS Brake lines from Chacal.
Here's my web page devoted to my bike! XS/XJ User's Manuals there, and the XJ1100 Service Manual and both XS1100 Service manuals (free download!).

If your thinking about shipping a bike as heavy and as old as the XS11 is, your going to find that the cost of shipping will be close to and maybe more then the cost of replacement when you get there. So, if it is for your XS11 and you don't have tons of dollars spent on restoring or refurbing it, it may not be worth it to ship it.

If that's suppose to be an "official" response to you about covering shipping costs, the quality of the English and lack of detail has SCAM written all over it. It can take as much as 30 days for a check to truly clear so if you become involved in this deal DEMAND instant bank transfers for all funds exchanges. Instant transfers put the money directly into your account and are instant.

I trust God, SWMBO, my children and my dogs, especially when it comes to money. Funniest but truest thing I have ever read was a hat that said "I don't lend money cause it causes amnesia".

Last I knew Ireland still spoke some qwerkie version of the kings english. That reads like it was written by someone who has never spoken the language. If it were me, the bike would leave my driveway/garage when the last penny of what is owed is in my hand in cash or in my bank account. Tell him to have his "PA" talk to your "PA" and their secretaries can arrange for it to happen that way.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

here was my response as of yesterday with the help of Han Jam

                    Hi!
I would like you to have the bike but it is going to have to be on different terms.
I will deal only in cash.

Your P.A or shipper can come and pick up the bike with $2800.00 Canadian cash.
They then can make all other arrangements. (i.e. picking up the bike, tranfering the ownership and shipping the bike to you). I don't really want to be involved in anything other then the direct purchase of my bike.

After you have answered this email and the terms are agreeable with you.I will then send you my phone number and we can finalize the arrangements.

This is the only way that the Bike will leave my possession.

That "buyer" has Nigerian written all over it. That is a standard format they have used for years.
