this last week has been awful. Last friday broke speedo cable on the way to work.My local after market m/c shop had cable in stock.Got that fixed.Sat uneventfull.Sun, some friends call me and asked to meet them .Me and wife decided would make for nice sunday ride.bike turned over slow but started so took off .nice ride.met friends for lunch and visit.bike started normal.nice ride back home.nice 90 mile ride on a beutiful day.got up this morning to go to work bike turned over slow again but started. So rode to work.got off work damn thing wouldn't start.Had to jump start to get home .Made it thank god. took battery out of bike to charge.Charged battery for 4hrs did load test battery weak. put battery back in ,so I could check alt. At 2500 rpm alt is charging 14.4 to 14.6 volts at battery so I think alt OK.now I need to go and buy a battery. What could possibly go wrong next???? Don't tell me I don't won't to know. 80 SG

There's no telling what could go wrong, you can only prepare for what you think might and do preventative repairs (costly).
On the battery front, I would suggest a sealed maint-free battery, just one less thing to worry about. I live in the south and that means having to fill normal batteries every few months at least. I got a Westco sealed battery this last replacement and it is doing great - no spillage, no corrosion or anything. Cost was about $70-80 including shipping and tax if I remember correctly.1979 XS11F Standard - Maya - 1196cc (out of order)

Agree with the Westco battery idea. Im on year 2 of mine, nice not to worry about filling battery every few thousand miles. I think the URL is:

battery
.Thanks
for replys.just seems for me that bad luck comes in more than 1.I suppose that I shouldn't complain 13,000 mostly uneventful.only repairs have been 1 front tire, tune-up,air filter , vavle adjust ,carb cleaning, coils and plug wires and normal xs fixes and routine maint.when you want something bad enough, don't let anything stand in your way, and don't take "no" for an answer. wow man, sounds like my riding season so far.
#1) on a 150 mile trip the speedo cable snaps. I was wondering why it seemed like I had only traveled 50 miles for so long.
#2) After the same trip I accidentally put the parking light on instead of just locking the bars. Middle of a sunny day so I didn't even notice the light. Well 4 days later when I went to start it up. Nothing, not even a glimmer of juice. A fluid fill and overnight charge cured that one.
#3) I'm cruising around town, do about 15 miles, and 4 blocks from home my throttle cable snaps. Totally sucks when that happens. I pushed the thing 4 blocks back home.
But I still love this bike.'80 XS1100sg "MadMax"

yeah, I've been around. I usually check out this forum to see what everyone is up to. Thanks for asking.
I got a few nice rides in so far, but the little things keep holding me up. I've got so many ideas about what I want to do to the bike appearance wise, but I hate having the downtime. I'll get around to that stuu one of these days.

Better some than none
Yea me too, all I really wanna do is ride but it seems like theres always 3 people or some crap like that! So I have to go a little out of my way and make up excuses like bidding jobs and the like. Whatever it takes!!!!! Still all I seem to have time for is little 10 mile rides and the like, but it sure beats not riding!
