    close calls

I have had a lot of close calls, near misses over the years on several bikes....perhaps more with the XS. Never made me think of calling it quits, guess its something I really enjoy, and something I would surely miss.....

        well....

i've only been off for a few weeks now. been seriously considering selling it. went out tonight to do some tinkering and realized i was nearly out of gas - so i went down to fill 'er up. With no choke, she popped right off and idled perfectly. ran like new. after filling up, i ended up having a nice 15 minute ride around town.

          Praise the LORD!!!!!!!!!

That's the way to do it! You know you can get killed just as dead in a car accident. All you gotta do is get hit by a full sized pickup while you are in a front wheel drive econo-box. At least they don't need to cut you out of yer bike,LOL

Man just do like me, wear a brain box so you can have an open casket funeral. On a bike its not IF you go down its When. Not very many people out there can say they have never laid one down, and the ones that do probably haven't been riding all their life. When you stop being worried about the raw power of a bike especially one like an XS, that's when you need to hang it up and stay in a cage. That fear is what kept you alive for this incident and will keep you alive in many more to come. Besides, "IF" you had been in a cage during this incident from the way I read it you would have some real serious seat belt burns, maybe even an airbag bruise, and then you'd be on the bike for a while sore as hell waiting for your cage to get repaired. I'm very glad to see you get back on. Go take some course, or refresher courses and keep riding.
            Jason.
