She hadn't been fired up in over a month and it's supposed to get ugly cold here tomorrow continuing until who knows when so I took advantage of a few minutes of free time this afternoon and went out looking for the last of the fall colors in my neighborhood.

I made it up to the Iron Horse Saturday night and am glad that I did!

Great bunch of folks and fun to see so many old XS11's in one place....the ride up and back was fun too.

Yeah, really wild terrain around there. I had an adventure back in there on Bat Cave Road out of Old Fort. It was raining. Very Steep and treacheros over the mountain on that mountain goat path / 1 lane road getting from marion to hendersonville on a rainy day.

    Thanks guys!

I rode out to the Lake Lure area and across White Oak/Skyuka Mtn and down into Tryon for lunch at Sidestreet.

Here's a google map of the 'fun part' http://goo.gl/maps/bvRe3 zoom in to see just how twisty!
(it would have been more fun to skip 9 altogether for more back roads but I needed gas and Mill Spring has non-ethanol)

Fueled up the old boat and went for a little spin today...

She ran great in spite of being a garage queen.

Actually did a longer overnight to Willville last month after getting her a new battery.

If I can get around to putting a new rear tire on maybe she can make a fly-by at Iron Horse in a couple of weeks?

The bags are Krausers...what used to come on old BMW airheads.

I simply cut the shield down by putting masking tape over the area of the cut, marking that then cut by hand with a fine coping saw. I've used a jigsaw on other pieces of plexi too but you have to be careful not to melt it.

Haha...yep..the right side hits the 4 into 1 header so it can't be leaned over as far. It's also in dire need of having another scrap "slider' welded to it...

The Left side has been 'rebuilt' numerous times by gluing some thin angle iron to the edge with JBweld putty.

There is a fair bit of wear on the Right though.

It's not really good to start dragging non-folding hard parts and the brake pedal of that old AAA floorboard setup is another problem when leaning hard to the Right....so I tend to not be as aggressive to that side as 'trail braking' just puts the lever right into the pavement!
