  • Not quite a sidecar. XS or XJ or not?

Had this sent to me today. Looks like a Yamaha XS wheel to me. Pretty wide tank though. XJ seat profile. Looks hybrid to me. Yes, I know it's a hybrid! Looking at the bike!

Sure would have to be easy on the throttle!

All I can think is what a waist of good motorcycle parts to attach them to what looks to be a Ford Tempo!!

I doubt those things had any more HP than an XS and weighed more.

Looks like an XJ with an XS front end and a Ford Escort stuck in it's a$$.

Gotta be running on the Escorts engine and drivetrain, there's no engine in the bike frame.

Don't recognize those blue and yellow however they do look familiar. What state?

That is kinda what my 81 looked like before the guys fixed it. I wasn't smiling when that happened either.....

Oh, and mine was a Saturn Ion with an obscured cruise control....

                    DGXSER,

You sure couldn't call it a waste of a Ford escort! That bike upped the value of the car by a factor of 2. Even without the Yami engine.

                    Ivan,

Didn't even think about the flashback factor. Sorry about that.

I'll bet it was fun to build too.

                        Hi Rodger,
frame has Yamaha style swingarm pivots etc but to me the wheel looks to have X-section spokes rather than the Yamaha H-section and that front brake looks "other".
But what a great concept for a trike!
Front drive car power unit with it's own bodywork, rear end panels and light package.
If it's done right the rig retains the car's reverse gear AND if the builder has locked the steering with a hydraulic cylinder & pump system you have independent rear wheel steering to get a really tight turning circle if you turn the wheels one way and sideways movement if you turn them the other.

                          fredintoon,

The more I look at that the more it looks like a real hoot to drive. You certainly wouldn't have someone telling you about how their version was better or nicer or any of the other p!$$!ng contests there are over each others bike.

Never noticed that about the wheel.
