  • Having my hand cut on Wednesday

I am having my carpal tunnel done on my right hand Wednesday. Guess the work on the bike will hold for a month or so. Have to get it done now, so the healing is done by riding time. Only problem this time, is i am right handed, and my left hand is dumber than snot, so i have to figure a way to wipe my a@$^%. I guess a corn cob on a pole may help. Probably have to wear sweat pants. Don't know what i would do if all i had was Levi 501's. Rubber bands i guess. Anyone know if you can pull the forks off with one hand? LOL Just thought i would lay in a little chuckle for the week. Typing will be hunt hunt, peck for a while.

Hey Bob you might want to start out with a wet rag and a pair of tongs until you get the hang of it.Good luck on the surgery and Merry Christmass to you and your family.

      Been there, done that!

In 1991 I had carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand and then the right hand two months later. This was with the early more invasive method than they use today. I wasn't without practice though, as I had been without the use of both hands at the same time in 1982. I suffered a skiing accident and wound up with both hands in casts for three months. You think it's going to be rough with just one hand, try just two fingers on each hand. I lived by myself at the time and it was no picnic. I learned to be really resourceful to say the least.

I'm sure you will find that this is an opportunity to expand your capabilities and will be surprised by some of the things that you can do with just your left hand. I don't know about pulling the forks off of a motorcycle with just one hand, but I did change the springs on the front of a Camaro that way.

Best of luck and a speedy recovery to you Bob.

Thanks Terry and Larry. I know i'll figure something out. Don't know about the tongs though. It would be my luck i would get them stuck somehow, and couldn't reach them. LOL Going to try to start the XJ650 today. Got the carbs done, and i would like to know it is going to run.

Just woke up from a nap . And my hand is throbbing pretty good . I guess my wife will have to fill the pain prescription . I am typing via speech recognition , it works pretty well . Got my fudge made yesterday , so that is already to go . Larry , you are probably right my daughter is in nursing school , and I give her a pretty bad time , I guess if someone gets a real upset with me and hits my hand, I guess I'll know I've gone too far . It should take only about three days to stop throbbing. I wish you all a very merry Christmas .
