Here is a current listing on ebay...

Now, for the rediculous part of it. Those are off of an XJ100. How do I know, (since you could not tell from looking at the picture IMHO), because those are the exact same ones I purchased form them and had to return and get them to refund my money!!!! And still yet again they do not even add the 1982 model year in the title of the parts!!! At least they added more pictures so you could identify it as the wrong part if you knew the differences.

What burns me up about it Kat is that I emailed them and guided them very politely through how to identify the bike as an XJ versus the XS byt the frame number and such. They just repeatedly sent me the same CYI repsonse that they simply listed it by the title information and they state that they tracked it by the VIN and decoded it as an XS. This response seems like a calculated and very deliberately formed statement by a legal beagle of some kind. I mean, every repsonse they sent back to me (three or four) said EXACTLY the same words verbatum. I asked them for the first four of the VIN and they just sent me the pat response back.

Now they did eventually refund ALL of my bid and shipping cost I paid to them, but I am out the cost for me to ship it back to them. And my time and effort. They even have/had a 10M TCI listed as an XS1100 item.

It would not hurt my feelings if I were to cause them to close their business down. At this point I feel they are purposely falsely advertising their goods.

Maybe a complaint to the ebay people would help. They are knowingly selling an item they know is not what they say. I imagine you would have the emails to back it up as well. What the heck, try it.

I doubt that it will help, but I reported the seller to Ebay. I actually need a set for mine. I hate dishonest people.

In the description they state it is an "82" XS. That should have been a Flag. WE all know the 82 is an XJ. I'm not defending the seller but we should know better than to try and deal with someone that doesn't know these bikes like the people here on XS11. They deal in multiple bikes, multiple parts and they don't give a s@#$ how the parts get out their door.
When I first got my bike the Title said 82 XS1100. If not for XS11 I would still be calling it an XS. Not that that's a bad thing.

BTW, In your frustration, you didn't happen to step on those ears in your driveway did you?? They look a bit twisted in a few of the pics. I need a set for my XJ but I think I'll leave those ones alone.

                Their repsonse to me

According to the title, and decoding the vin number this came off an XS1100 when we recieved the bike. If the previous owner did any alterations to it, we do not have any knowledge of that. But thank you for your input.

                My response back to them

                Hi Kasey,

I understand the confusion, I have recently learned that for some reason they titled these 82 model year Maxims as an XS1100 in some states. As previously stated, having looked at the parts you have for sale and subsequent to this issue cropping up of receiving the wrong parts, viewing the video of the running bike, you do indeed have an XJ1100, the Maxim model, and not an XS1100. All Maxim models are XJ bikes and not XS. If the VIN number starts with a 10M, or 11G it is an XJ, look on the neck of the frame to be sure you got the title to the frame you have there.

I have learned and will look VERY closely before ordering parts again. I missed in your detailed description that it was an 82 bike. Had that been in the header along with the XS1100 model I would have caught this was the wrong part. It was also unfortunate that the picture you had of the parts did not reveal the angle that they "ear" part comes off at or I could have identified it as the wrong parts. In the case of the TCI I responded to you about, it is marked with a green tag and a 10M indicator, the 10M was only used on the XJ bikes. The gas tank and the seat you have are definitely off of an XJ bike and they will not fit an XS frame without modifications that would be very apparent.

I truly appreciate that Pinwall Cycle is willing to refund my cost and the shipping cost I paid to Pinwall for the parts, they are in the mail back to you and you may have received them by now.

I am truly not trying to be a pain, understand that I am only trying to help you and the rest of the Ebay users avoid this confusion and difficulty, and possibly damage to other components, of the wrong parts being bought again.

                Thanks,
                Don

And again their repsonse back to me

According to the title, and decoding the vin number this came off an XS1100 when we recieved the bike. If the previous owner did any alterations to it, we do not have any knowledge of that. But thank you for your input.

If they simply added the '82 into the banner part description I would feel better about it. But they seem to deliberately leave that out. Which is why I missed it when I bought them. Also, I have seen NUMEROUS times where people get the year of the bike wrong in their ads. In fact my project SH was listed as a 79 special in the CL ad.

I just know that I will never buy another part form them and will do what I can to let folks know what type of company they are running. I gave them every thing they need to figure it out for themselves if they had any care or intention of being honest about things, and they have chose to continue on this path.

The 1982 year in the posting of an XS would have been enough of a red flag for me to stay away.
