    Hey all!
Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Johnny. I'm 26 yrs old and live in Glendale, CA. Looks like I will be the proud new owned of the 82xj11 that GREG MAZ had for sale on this site. (he pointed me to the site, so must say thanks)

So I was searching the internet looking for different handlebar options but came up empty. I love the bike BUT not the bars. any ideas?

    (FYI: FNG= ****ing New Guy)

Hey Johnny!! Welcome to XS11!! Like Lorax said, we have fun and can be educational. We were all the FNG at one point. And compared to many here I still am!! I just have lots of post because I am an addict!!

As to the bars for your XJ, they do have a funky system on those, so I am not certain I know of a swap. But then I do not own an XJ.....yet.. Some of the others here that are long time XJ owners will have more for you on that.

Hmmm.. I know some don't like the bars, but I love 'em. You can adjust them anywhere you want them pretty much. Much stouter than the tube style also... BUT. To each his own. Welcome to the site.

          Welcome Johnny

I thought I read here somewhere on here that you can change the handlebar clamps.I don't have an XJ I have XS's though.Anyway just do a search and I am sure you find some information you can use.
BTW, search is on the blue bar on top of the page.

              Hi Johnny and welcome,
let me suggest that you upgrade your membership page to include the info you posted here? You can also add a signature line that will automatically show on the posts you make.
So you don't like how the bars look or do you need a bar shape they won't adjust to?

welcome John, eventho seeing you ride away with my precious was painful

last comment: it's a cruiser, you should enjoy a riding position way more relaxed than on your previous ninja 500. No need to lean over the tank, you'll see what I mean when using the highway foot pegs.

                  bye yall xses

Have a soon to be on the road XJ. Looking forward to the options those bars will present. They may not look like regular bike bars but the XJ is no regular bike. Thats the beauty in it. You can always get a regular bike.

                        Handlebars

To change to conventional bars, you will need to replace your upper triple tree with one from a 79-81 XS special. Then you can use ANY round 7/8" bars on the market. The XJ triple tree has those two serrated pin type mounts on the upper triple tree, where the special has the clamps for the round bars. I switched my special tree some years ago, cause I did not like the buckhorn bars. I love the positions that are available with the XJ bars, and I guess I did get used to looking at them. I traded parts with another member here, and do not have the special upper tree any more. Andreas would probably have some for a reasonable price.
