That is the exact method I used when I tried to fix mine.

I don't have a printer anymore.

After the second time my printer gave me trouble (yes, just the secod time, this ain't baseball) I devised a method of permanent repair.

First, you use your skid loader or similar type equipment to lift a LARGE piece of unsplit firewood up on your shed roof. Then you roll the piece of firewood down the roof and onto the ground. Observe carefully the location of the dent the firewood makes in the ground. Reload the firewood back on the shed roof. Locate one end of a ten foot 2x10 plank at the location of the dent. Using a smaller piece of firewood create a fulcrum point under the plank aproximately 1/3 of the way down the plank from the end located over the dent. Place the faulty printer on the other end of the plank. Repeat the process of rolling the large piece of firewood down the roof. Properly done this will send the printer clear over the roof of a fairly large shed.

If you have planned the operation well enough there will be at least four or five of your friends on the other side of the shed to observe re-entry of the printer from orbit. Application of the retro-rockets should be done with the same amount of 12 gauge shotguns as you have friends observing.

This method of repair will cost you the price of a case of beer in addition to the cost of a new printer but we all agreed that the entertainment value was well worth the price of the beer, not to speak of the incredible amount of satisfaction you get for getting even with the irritating piece of junk!!
