    A Fish Experiment Gone Wrong

    Attacking A Boat In Louisiana

An Actual Attack Caught On Film

    Very Very Dangerous

The silver carp has an aggressive tendency to leap from the water and bite. They can grow to over 60 lb, and can leap 10 ft in the air. Many boaters traveling in uncovered high-speed watercraft have been injured by running into the fish while at speed. In 2003 a woman jet-skiing was almost killed by this vicious monster.

    More Attacks

A teenage boy from Arkansas was attacked and it broke his jaw. Seth Russell, 15, of Crossett, was cruising Lake Chicot on a large inner tube towed by a boat when a Silver Asian carp leaped from the water and bit him in the face. Seth was knocked unconscious.

The teen has had oral surgery to wire several teeth together and still experiences back pain that doctors attribute to whiplash from the high-speed collision, his mother said.

      Holy Carp!

I KNEW there was a reason I didn't go fishing... I just thought it was because I didn't like killing them... It must have been that something in the back of my mind telling me that they are secretly out to get me...
Fish... and those stupid squirrels that wait until I'm just about to where they are... them sitting on the side of the road... then running in front of me with just enough room to live...

When I was younger we used to catch yellow carp to 6' back in Michigan. They weren't that aggressive though.

This past summer I was offshore 50mi and had a 4½' kingfish jump out of the water and hit me in the back rolling off into the boat Caught it coming out of the water off the corner of my eye. all I saw was teeth.

Kat, your giving those squirrels way too much room.

Carp are a bottom feeding fish with the nickname "Suckerfish". If you open the mouth of one it looks like a suction cup... there are NO visible teeth. Jumping from the water isn't a sign of aggression, it's a defense reaction. It's like when a flying fish jumps out of the water.. it's simply a defensive action when spooked.

I have seen videos where people put up a net from the front to the back of the boat between two peoplelike a volleyball net... bang on the side of the boat to spook the fish.. and end up with literally HUNDREDS of fish in the boat.

Don't give up fishing!!! Think of it as a opportunity to carry a sidearm. Here in Missouri, we carry fairly small handgun like the Kahr P-40 so as not to get in the way of cranking a big bass into the boat. Oh, don't use hollow points as they tear up to much of the meat.

I have seen these things as aerial bow fishing sport.

I would be starting a comercial fish/fertilizer operation back there. Run out there and shock the water and pick up every invasive carp and let the rest come to and swim off.

Now, THAT is a fishin' story.

I don't like fishin' but I do like to get into the fishin' position.

Comfortable chair, feet up, a cooler full of cheap beer, and good friends to lie to. ( however I did find out the hard way relaxing and having a beer in a state park in Texas is ILLEGAL )

I might reconsider fishing if I could use a shotgun.

                          That just might be fun.
