  • It's TOUGH out there!

Finally, after 7 months, I landed a job.
    YAY ME!
Took a massive cut in pay, but it's way more than unemployment. Don't start till after New Year. Get to stay local, with perhaps the odd trip to Japan, here and there.

Picked up some Chinese on the way home from dropping off some blood, and the wife's fortune cookie said, "Your financial situation will improve soon".

I think mine said something about resuming shaving regularly, I don't remember.

    True story.

Now, what the hell was my Ebay login?

        Glad to hear

Congrats! That gives me hope that I'll find work some time soon. I've been laid off since May so I know how great this must be for you and your family.

I know that we just put out a job announcement and got the largest number of applications for the job I have seen in the 16 years I have worked here. And a lot of them aren't really even qualified for the job. (asp.net, c# developer).

Funny, last time I went, my wife's said "That wasn't chicken." and mine said "You're F#$%@d".

Congrats on the job. I have been there and done that, bought the t-shirt and lost it in the flare. Extended periods of unemployment really do work on the soul, and its hard to stay positive. When the acceptance letter comes though, PARTY TIME!

                  Thanks ya'll.

The new job is closely associated with the power industry, so there should be some stability there. They rebuild steam turbines. It was between that and Walmart Greeter. Dang, I really liked that blue vest tho.

I have always worked in straight up commodity manufacturing, but that is a very ugly place right now, at least in this state (WI), and will be for a long time.

And no Kat, no more hot rats on a stick for me!

Hopefully, I'll be able to make the MoM next year. All I need is a new back tire.

Probably just as well... that is apparently a pretty dangerous job...

I hope so! I understand that back tires are relatively easy to come by... You can always post a thread and see what everyone thinks is the best one...

NO! Not another tire thread. I even started one without actually intending to. But I'm up for another oil thread if someone wants to start another war. Of course we should put it in the "Hot Button" area.

                          Kat,
If Cy were to start another tire thread at this point in time, I doubt SERIOUSLY if he'd be able to make the next MOM!!!!! LOL

Dan, glad to hear you've re-entered the ranks of the gainfully employeed again!
That's good. Sorry to hear you had to take a cut though. That stinks... but at least your going again.
Good luck w/ the new job... maybe they'll realize your talents & skills, and give you a raise or a promotion soon???
I'll keep my fingers & toes crossed for ya!
                          Take care.

Proof once again that the only thing worse than working is NOT working.

Hey mods, let's create a now category for Newbies, or Oil and Tires, as those are real issues for many new owners, but a bore for the veterans. A couple of sticky threads with as much tire/oil info as possible, and room for the inevitable arguments that result. Any thoughts?
