I had a really good Thanksgiving morning. I joined the PGR (Patriot Guard Riders) several months ago, and finally yesterday I was finally able to go on my first mission. For those who don't know, the PGR welcomes home soldiers and provides escorts and flag lines for soldiers going to their final rest.
The mission yesterday was to welcome home a young soldier from Iraq who arrived at the airport yesterday morning. We had a great turnout (over 40 riders) and the family and soldier were very touched. Additionally we we able to catch and welcome home about 7 other soldiers as well, and we even had two bagpipe players who played the service songs as they arrived and came down and then went through the flag line.
