  • sign of the times?

Ok. My 11 year old daughter is out of school for Thanksgiving so I let her have a friend stay overnight (a girl of course).

This morning I see them sitting on opposite ends of the couch TEXTING EACH OTHER!

    WTF?

    Hi Greg,
back when I was 11 it was two tin cans joined by a tight string. Only the technology has changed, not the mindset.

Well, how long is the couch?

Seriously though, I'd say they were having a "conversation" that you weren't meant to hear.
I know this, because Tyler knows this.

Yeah, pretty soon we will lose vocal chords (Not needed) and start growing extra fingers to be able to type and text faster. All except neanderthals like me... who types with two fingers still.. lol.

It's possible they didn't want you to hear them if they spoke.. so they had to secretly text... which makes me think it was about you.

"Does your dad ALWAYS smell like that in the mornings?"

"Did you see what he was scratching!?"

"Does he ALWAYS drink that much at night?"

"OMG!!! Did you hear your dad snoring last night?"

Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.

You can live to be 100, as long as you give up everything that would make you want to live to be 100!

It's only going to get worse. My daughter who is 21 sends and receives well over a 100 test messages a day. It's like she never talks her phone any more. It's all text messaging.
Think about how many text messages would need to go back and forth for 2 girls to have a conversation as if they were chatting on the phone. Relationships are becoming less and less personal every year with this stuff. It's scares me.

My boss texts me more than he calls me and I usually call him back to answer him which I don't think he likes. It just takes me longer to text it than to just tell him.

That is all personality. I work in a field filled with introverted personalities, engineering. Most engineers prefer to be locked in a room with their thoughts and only bothered for food or sleep. I am a bit of a mix and more extroverted, so I like to talk, just ask the SWOXS folks. So I call people instead of texting or emailing. My boss is more of a sales type and he calls for anything.
