Ya sure! 50 years of riding! Oh yeah, well, 64 years of living... if you call 14 years of not having an XS11 living!
OK, hyperbole…
I was almost literally born on wheels. My Dad was a concrete form builder who followed road building projects around Texas during the 40's, 50’s and 60's. we moved at least 25 times and lived in almost as many towns by the time we settled down in Lubbock when I was in the second grade.
One of my earliest memories was Mama whipping me with a belt for leaving the block on my tricycle when I was maybe 3 years old. When I learned to ride a two wheeler (and this is a story unto itself,) I was riding 15, 20 miles a day on a single speed bike. A 3 speed hub was considered hi tech back then. I didn’t see a 10 speed “derailleur” until at least “64, and that was owned by a “Yankee” who had the misfortune of being enrolled in our local institution of Higher Learning (before it became an institution of higher indoctrination,) Texas Tech College, home of the Fighting F#@%g Red Raiders, e-e-e-e-e-HAW! (Sorry, football culture disgusts me as a result of growing up around it in Texas.)
Sorry, I’m rambling.
On December 4th I will be celebrating the afore mentioned event with a party at my place and I am trying to figure out a hi tech way for my brothers and sisters of XS to join my party. I have a digital camera that can be used as a web cam, but I gather there is more to it than just hooking it up to the computer.
I hope this is going to be a heck of a party and I’d like y’all to join me with real time, on line participation. Your suggestions are appreciated.
