Those Harley riders have probably seen the back end of that bike or another like it pulling away in in front of them before.

Nice day for a ride. Wasn't it?

Didn’t we just finish another thread like this about Harley’s? The funny thing about this is that those guy’s (Harley riders) that you saw probably have/had and appreciate the metric bike that they have/had in there garages. By the same token many people here on this forum that have our beloved XS’s have Harley’s in there garages also and appreciate them also. I had two great day’s of riding this weekend. Saturday on my XS and Sunday on my Harley.

        Yeah, that's cool, John!

I've had 'em do the same to me...

Passed by one as we headed the same direction on a divided 4 lane over in Ark. not long ago... didn't think much about it as I passed on by... then he sped up beside me, and gave me the thumbs up!

Surprised me... like he said in the last post... a lot of folks have both, but even if they don't... at least some can appreciate ours too.
        That's always cool.

          Brent Hoovestol has one.
          Bob Falter has one.
One of my bosses has one.
I kinda had one, if you consider a Buell.
          I could keep going.....

To me it's the ones with the attitudes that I don't like. I appreciate anyone riding an older bike more because I know all the work it takes to maintain one.

            That's right, Jeremy.

Brent's a great man, too. Nice Harley! PLUS... he just bought a new, way cool Buel, too!

I haven't met Bob yet, but heard many good things about him as well.

Why in the world did you have to let your Buel go?

I hear, if you're in the market... now's the time to buy one... (hint, hint...)
Heard Brent got a great deal...

Wish I had the cash... I would!

Ya, the bad attitudes are on all sides. What really caught me off guard is the attitude of allot of BWM riders.

Well I do ride all year long here in NewZealand, and with plenty of harley riders.
Last week we had our biggest ralley ever, 6000 bikes went to govenment building on a protest ride.
Everything from 50CC mopheads to 5 liter V8"s. the most predominant bike were the Harleys.
Here in NZ we do get the snobby harley crowd, as do bikers in every country,
But I have been on many poker runs on my XS, and have never had a bad word spoken about my girl.
It summer here now, and our rally season started 3 weeks ago. Here we can go to a ralley every week end till March, then we have 4 of 5 over our winter.
These events are patronised by all types of bikes, the HOG have their rallys , which metrics attend , the triumph boys also, There is an anual Jap Classic ralley close to me each january, some of the bikes that are displayed have never been riden on the road!
Sadly there are only about 100 XS11's left on the road over here, but they are well liked by all riders I meet.
I have to agree with the BMW riders being the most snobby, why I have no idea. And dont really care anyway

Sure! That means it's time to start another one! lol.

I told the story before, but Russ79 and I were checking out some twisties in the backwoods of Arkansas. We stopped at where a BMW 1200gs was.. Looked like this one...

...figured he was a local, so we stopped to talk a sec. The road we were on was the best road I've ever ridden and we asked him about how far it went and for some other suggestions. He looked at my old bike and you could actually SEE his nose turn up at us and didn't have much to say. He said he needed to go and snapped his visor down, cranked it up, and shot off like an a@@hole. I looked at Russ and said, "Man.. I got to! See you at the next turn off or stop"

Beemer Boy saw me gaining and tried valiantly to get away.. he just couldn't. In the curves, I stayed glued to his azz. We hit one long straightaway where he was pulling away.. he just had more HP... but I sucked him back up in the curves. I think I could have gotten by him, but it really wouldn't have been too safe and I think I made my point.

I came up on the highway we were looking for that branched off of the one we were on, so I pulled over to wait on Russ. Beemer Boy saw me stop and turned around just about the same time Russ pulled up. He was jabbering about knowing more good roads.. yadda yadda asking if we wanted to go ride some more.. so we blew HIM off, said we needed to go and roared off the other way. He was probably thinking, "What a couple of vintage riding a@@holes!" lol.

I had a "gravel+corner+70mph=accident" on mine. It scared me a little so I sold it and didn't ride for a couple years. I do like the 1125R but I also like my TLR. The Buell I had wasn't any faster accelleration wise than my XS and was an automatic wheelie popper when you twisted the throttle.

That IS supposed to be what it's all about. I've never understood or liked brand-bashing as practiced by some riders (particularly the uninformed variety). But rudeness and ignorance isn't brand specific and I'll bet if you show up with a chip on your shoulder, you'll get exactly the reaction you're expecting.

I don't doubt you have many areas that it doesn't matter to most but this is Texas and people down here can be real hard a$$es or real easy going. There is a pretty big gap between the two. They give riding classes at the Harley dealerships because most buyers have never ridden before and at their time of life it is a status symbol to own a HD. 75% of the Harley riders here wouldn't talk to you if you don't ride a HD. For myself I like the Night Rod but it sure is heavy. You don’t have the same issue with any other riders except beemers. Just the way it is.

Well Texas has nothing on Ohio in my opinion. I rode Thunderstruck to a bike nite at a local choke and puke and it was 90% Harley riders in their black leather everything with the HD symbol, the other 9% were the crotch rockets with plastic everything. I don't care what you ride really, it is more about attitude than anything else to me. That and it being able to corner better than my grandma driving her 72 Cadilac sedan de'ville.

Anyway, only two people even made eye contact and talked to me, one was a chic representing some law firm giving away T-shirts with their logo on it (now a polishing rag for the bikes) and the other is the service manager at my local Yamarobbers who has helped me alot with info and spare hardware laying around the shop. Everyone else acted like I had a plague of some kind. It reminded of the Dr. Sues story about Sneeches on Beaches.
