  • another work issue

So i have been running a printing press at work and doing my maintenance job at the same time as our business(Christmas cards)is going wild with orders.I have been on a press now for a month 10 hour days 6 days a week.So my boss asks me how am i doing the other day and i say to her-i need new shoes. So she tells me to go and get a pair of shoes for $60.00 and give them the receipt and they will reimburse me the cost.So on Saturday she asks how am i doing and i tell her my feet hurt and i will get the shoes this weekend. So the next thing she comes up to me again and says the assistant plant manager needs to talk with me.So 10 minutes later i am told to leave work and go see a comp doctor about my foot issues. So i go to the doctor and he tells me that i need to see a foot doctor and this is not a compensation issue and tells me that i have flat feet and peoples feet hurt everyday and to go back to work. So i call up my work and tell them i am cleared to return to work and now have to wait until they see the paperwork. So i think they wont now let me return until i go to a foot doctor.

If things start to get wierd with the company don't hesitate to get a lawyer. I've been through 5 surgeries for work comp issues and everyone of them I had to fight the company and their doctors. They also told me that everyone of my injuries were not work comp related and that it was not their fault. In a court of law it was proven it was their fault and they had to take care of the doctor bills as well as all lost wages and compensation for disability. A good work comp lawyer won't cost you a penny until a settlement is reached and then by law they only can take 20%..at least in OK.

I went to a foot doctor 2 years ago that was not covered by insurance and he told me that constant standing on concrete will take its toll and suggested that i either switch jobs or get a pair of orthopedic shoes but will still occasionally feel concretes wrath.I told my work that i am not a press operator all the time and if they ask anyone on the floor if their feet hurt most will say yes.So now i have to explain why i cant run a press full time.My friend who worked at a company for 22 years and was let go back in May now is going to school full time and will graduate in 2010 and be placed in a hospital after graduating.I think a job change is in order.

I am flat footed and also have had a crushed right foot.

When in the rehab for the right foot, I was fitted with some custom made orthopedic insoles. They were $200, but worth every penny. If your feet get tired and worn out easily, I would highly suggest a set. Also, Wolverine boots seem to have the best long term comfort I have found in a boot yet.

Just a couple thoughts for you.
