  • selling 82 XJ11, 30k, but how much?

moving to SF, it rains too much over there for my riding taste. How much should I sell the beast for? Don't wanna part it. Also, I am repainting it. Dunno which color. Too dark might not be god because my prep work is not that perfect. It was burgundy originally. Will look at some members pix.

I don't think god will expect you to be perfect, but he might want you to try.

        LOL GOTCHA!

Gotta pic? Actually you'll be lucky to get $1 per cc simply because they're so old almost no one except us knows what they even are. Unless you've got someting REALLY special and you catch the right persons attention.

Great bikes but not a real good money making investment.

There's been one on CL in the Sacramento area for quite a while that's asking 1300 for it and there have been no takers (it looks pretty nice too). This is a worste time to sell, but frankly if I moved to SF I woudn't sell, it doesn't rain that much there.

Rain really isn't that bad. You just have to wait for winter to come to get out of the fog.

Mark Twain said "the coldest winter I ever spent was summer in San Francisco".

I'd think about keeping the bike. Way too many cool places to ride to be with out a bike and you are riding a good one.

I live on the coast about 70 miles below SF. I ride most of the year, and have no problems. There are some VERY NICE 2 lane roads within 30 minutes of downtown SF. Parking for a car in the city is $250 a month if you don't have a space with your flat. I know this from my niece, as she's been in the city for the last 8 years. She sold her car (mini cooper) because she drove it about once a month. She figures it's cheaper to rent a car when she needs one!
There are a LOT of motorcycles in the city, and they DO give you an advantage for parking. I had one place that had me park it on the sidewalk near the entrance. The valet team didn't let ANYONE touch it!

                  Greg,
I'd show ya a pic of my XJ, but it's burgandy colored too.
You can see it in the members photo area if you like...

Depends some on the condition and cleanliness...
If it's really slick, and running perfect... and the right time of year... or the right buyer that wants it bad enough... might bring $2500.
Sometimes it depends on how much has been invested or modded...

                  If not, less. Just depends.

Mine needed the 1st gear fix, base gasket leaked... but the rest was slick and it was a full bagger w/ 35,000 miles... I gave $1800. About the norm for one in pretty good shape.

                    Hi Greg,
try moving to Saskatchewan which is buried in snow half the year. It also seems like in the summer it only rains on weekends but that's just a perception thing.
So suck it up and buy a rainsuit.
