Seen at least 10 different types of signals advertised as front signals for a 78XS1100 on Ebay. I can't believe Yamaha used that many different signals in 1 year!!!
Anyway BAT was # 473 off the line. So somebody please tell me what the heck I'm looking for and how they're mounted. Thanks and God Bless America. MIKE and BAT
PS: I've bought many parts off Ebay advertised as EXCELLENT CONDITION that were in worse shape than what I was replacing.
Look at the pics under my signature. This is a stock 78 & 79. Where are you located in Louisiana? I live in the Crowley area.

Honestly, I have not looked at those ears in that much detail in along time. And I have never seen in person an XJ or owned one, so for me, it was not that readily discernable.

The differences as I know now, is the tube is shorter and the ears stick up at an angle. I would just hate to be the one who buys the seat thinking it will fit their XS. The angle they took the picture somewhat hides the curve of the XJ seat.

Hopefully I'll get in the barn soon

I've got both a 78XSE seat in good condition, and a 82XJ seat in fair condition thats been modified to fit the XSE. Think all I had to do was pull off some of the rubbers off the bottom. When my ex-son would use my Bike He'd pull off the XS seat and put on the XJ seat. Probably sell both of em real soon for cheap so I can buy a solo seat since I pulled the shocks and put on10.25 in struts.
I made it outside and walked around the yard using a walker yesterday. But I live in a house trailer and its Hell to get around in here and also down the steps. All I can say if you've got every cervical and lumbar disc herniated, Don't ever try tilling a ditch! Even with a Troy Built!

Mike, the fronts should match the square rears (in fact, they use the same lenses/housings) except the fronts have dual-element lamps. Partsnmore www.partnmore.com lists new reproductions for only $10 each; I've been eying those myself. Anybody buy/use these? Good quality?

As to mounting, they fit onto chrome stanchions that install at the lower tree clamps via the clamp bolts. These seem to be somewhat harder to find....

I m getting ready to file a dispute with paypal on this I think. I sen the parts back a week ago and have not gotten anything communication from them or any refund to my paypal account.

I have tried a couple times to explain that the title was "mislabled" and that if the VIN starts with 10M or 11G it is an XJ. They just send a pat answer of

"According to the title, and decoding the vin number this came off an XS1100 when we recieved the bike. If the previous owner did any alterations to it, we do not have any knowledge of that. But thank you for your input."

So they are just circling the wagons and protecting themselves instead of making things right and correcting their errors. I have learned though, they only put the year of the bike in the detailed description which I did not look at thoroughly. They also had posted a video of the bike running with the tank and seat off of it, but there was enough to tell me it was an XJ, I just did not look at it since how it ran made no difference to the headlight ears.

IMHO, I will not do business with them again.

Apparently the magic words are "If the money has not been refunded by Monday, I will be initiating a dispute with Paypal." which received the following repsonse..."Sorry, found package, USPS dropped off out front at counter and gal out there forgot. Will receive refund within the hour and thank you for working with us here at PinWall"

They did credit my payal account the full amount including the shipping charges. So, this is completed on my part.

Can't stand Pinwall. They often time sell misrepresented junk without a care in the world at super high prices. Received ignition coils once from them after first asking them to confirm that they were not cracked and what do you know, they sell me cracked ignition coils.
