  • Damn the luck

So I was on my way home from work today to take my sick kiddo to the hospital for a check of what's got him down and on the way there, some old hag pulled out from a side road with out yeilding. I tboned her at 70 mph. I didn't have time to $**t or go blind before I hit her straight on. I walked away from the crash, but she had to go to the hospital. The cops said she is going to be fine, but in light of recent events, I am starting to believe they are trained to say that, even if its pretty grim outlook.

Mostly I feel like I took on an NFL defensive line man, muscles hurt and a bit of a headache, but I am doing OK in spite of the fates conspiring against me. I am VERY happy not to be in a wheelchair again.

Wow! Sorry to hear about your run of bad luck! Unfortunately for the old hag she pulled out in front of you. At least you weren't texting or talking on your cellphone and it wasn't a biker she pulled out in front of.

          Could always be worse!

          Glad you're ok!

Sorry to hear that Ivan. I hope being sore is the worst of it. Take care of yourself and if you feel anything else is wrong get it checked out. I hope the woman you hit is ok as well, even though she needed an awakening.

Well, I am doing ok today. I am trying to get the pictures uploaded from my phone.

I remember thinking just before impact, "I hope I die rather than going through a whole lot more pain." Then the airbag popped and I was facing backward in the lane. It all took less than a second. When I realized I was ok, and saw her off to my right in the ditch with blood on her face, adrenaline kicked in and I jumped out of the car and said "Are you OK?" She said she was, but didn't want to move just incase something was broken. Then I told shouted at her "You better not f***ing die on me! I am not having that s**t again damnit!". I had dialed 911 just before, and that was the first thing the dispatcher heard, so he was pretty confused.

According to her insurance adjuster, she was released from the hospital last night and had a few stitches in her forehead, but nothing else. Hearing that was a real relief.

Looks like the pics finally hit the bucket so here they are:

                  Her car:

                  The skid marks:

                  Other stuff...

Man oh man. I'm glad you are okay. I was driving by yesterday and saw all the commotion. I thought to myself, "I hope everyone is okay!" Didn't know it was you!

Wow, I wish I had known it was you, it would have been nice to have a friend to talk to in the midst of it all.

My daughter drove by in here driver's ed class as well.

So did the rental agent that I got the rental car from.

Funny how all that works out.

Several miles from here they are tearing down an old country school building. Last time I was past there they were trying to sell the old school bell. There is a small possibilty that it would make a large enough gremlin bell to chase away the type of gremlins that are after you.

Glad you are OK, remember that New Years is not that far away, maybe next year will be better, we hope.

Nah, Jeremy, I can just get some of that touch up paint that comes in a nail polish bottle and she'll be good as new.

So, once again I am looking into getting yet another car. If any of you recall, at about this time last year, actually in two days it will be exactly a year, my Chrysler Cirrus was totaled out from some idgit crossing over center line and sideswiping me.
