Thanks to all who served, and lets not forget those who served but didn't retire (just plain veterans, I'm not talking about the fallen).

            Support the troops

I attended a remembrance day service today and spoke with a WW2 RCAF bomber tailgunner, Canadian Army Italian campaign vet and a British D-Day vet. They were all mid 80's but you could see the young man in their eyes when they spoke of their war memories. I shook their hands and thanked them.
The speaker at the service was one of the best I have ever heard. In addition to the fallen, he mentioned the sacrifice of the wounded, families and friends of all veterans from all conflicts.
"Those who kneel and pray also serve"
I hate war and I especially hate the human cost. But as long as the boys on the ground believe they are making a difference, I support them 100%

Yea Rick, I know that look.

My grandfather, RIP, Was a US Navy Seabee in the philippines during WWII.

He was blinded by a grenade exploding near his face.

You couldn't get him to talk about it much, but when you did you could see the pride glowing in his face.

Even though he was functionally blind, he held a job until he was over 80. Walked to work because he couldn't see to drive. Did it for at least 40 years I know of.

He IS the hero of my life. My pattern.
