  • Anyone have a Music Keg/PhatBox?

This is a shot in the dark, but I figure with all the folks are here there is a chance that someone else has a Kenwood Music Keg or PhatBox. I tossed my software CD out years ago not yet know that PhatBox company would go under and completely dump all support for their products. I almost never hold onto the disks that come with hardware because they always update it the software and make it available for download... not this time. I have been stuck listening to the same music for almost 5 years now. Anyways, if anyone has a disk I could borrow, I would gladly pay shipping both ways and sweeten the deal.

I just spent the last half hour learning about this thing. I had never heard of it before. Evidently, there is a website devoted to your cause. They offer a free software replacement called PhatHack that is supposed to work. You just have to register with them first.

been there, done that. There isn't actually anything there. If you follow it through you get to the download location, and there is nothing. The site was origially dedicated to the concept of hacking the DMS cartriges. The DMS cartrage is a glorified 2.5" laptop HDD. It took these guys years to finally break the protection and be able to swap in and use larger HDD's. Phatbox was basically banking on the drives being the big money maker. They wanted like 300 bucks for an 80GB HDD DMS, when a drive that size can be purchase for around 50 bucks.
